Went by to get a smoothie yesterday during business hours and the employees said the system was down so there was no way to put in an order. They turned multiple customers away. After reading the reviews, this seems like a reoccurring problem at this location.
Best location I have visited staff real friendly and quick. Manager is always out on the floor assisting where she can. I thought she was one of the regular workers. Smiles and just a pleasant experience every time
I went to grab a smoothie at about 5PM and the employees that were working said that their system was down. That was a lie because when I left, I watch other customers purchasing smoothies and food from across the street in the pavilion area. Terrible ownership and employees. I see that this place has ALOT of 1/5 star reviews due to the fact of the dishonest employees.
Very poor customer service. I went in at 5:32 PM. The lady working therewas just standing there talking to a guy cleaning the floor. I was looking up at the menu, and she asked me if I was going to order. I said yes, I just wanted a smoothie. She told me they were no longer making smoothies and closed for the day. The sign on the door clearly stated they closed at 6:00 PM. I have called the location 4 times and left 2 messages for the manager to call me, and still have never gotten a call back!
I am out of town visiting for a family event. I looked for the nearest Tropical Smoothie and google pulled this location up. When I arrived to this location they were closed but the hours on the door stated the exact thing, Saturday 11am-3pm and I arrived at 12:00. This is very misleading and upsetting especially since gas prices are high and all I did was waist mine traveling to this location. The store hours online and what is displayed on the door when you arrive should be updated.
The staff is friendly and the food is what you'd expect. I will say that there are definitely right and wrong things to order, but as an employee at Duke, that's not an issue for me. Definitely one of my go to places here on campus.
It was our first time at this place and at first did not expect much; however once we received our food and drinks...wowow. Everything tasted so good, it was the perfect balance of healthy but tasty food!

My wife and i like the smoothos from this place. Great for an in between meals snack while shes getting her infusions. We stopped obtaining food from this location when she ordered a chicken quesadilla. It arrived with no chicken. She was already hooked up for infusion so we couldnt return it. Just tried to obtain two smoothies. Same type. Waited for 15 minutes while watching everyone after me (8 or more folks) obtain their order. Includimg a person who ordered 4 smoothies. After trying to walk up to two different folks who work there and in return getting ignored i walked out empty handed. I dont have all day to wait around for two smoothies to be made at the employees convienience. I have a wife to return to who is in the middle of an infusion. Will no longer patronize this establishment. A shame too since we have several more months to go.
Great concept as we need more Black businesses hiring women of color and encouraging healthy food choices. Food was surprisingly tasty. If I only want a smoothie though, I'd go to SK because these were icy and not very smooth.Sn: this campus location says open to the public, but it was VERY difficult getting in. If I wasn't so tired and hungry, I'd have just driven somewhere else. I'd love to try them again if another public Durham location opens up.
