The once great place to eat every day meals is now an event space only. Every one was nice and helpful as I took a tour of the room for my dad's 85th birthday party. It's a great space to turn into anything you envision for your event.

I enjoyed the Lexington-style pork shoulder barbecue sandwich - a little more mild and sweet than the regular "barbecue" according to the menu, and it was exactly that. Delicious with just enough of the vinegar-base, not excessive. My wife enjoyed her salad and my daughter and son-in-law shared a combo with fried chicken and one other meat (forget which one). They enjoyed theirs quite a bit too, The complimentary hushpuppies provided at the start were a pleasant surprise. Service was good and free drink refills were appreciated. The barbecue at The Pit is better, I think than what I found in the Salisbury area, which tends toward a thinner, stronger vinegar base.

We had Sunday lunch and it was amazing. Ike was friendly, informative and funny. All the meats were good. The biscuits and cornbread were the best I've ever had. The Carolina sauce was tangy and delicious. This place will become a regular visit for me. Kid friendly. Amazing banana pudding.

Excellent service and atmosphere- our waiter was amazing . Got in after a baseball game- about 30 minutes before closing and the staff was amazing and the food was delicious! The sampler appetizer was great!

I had take out. The food was a me amazing. The fried chicken and collards are great. I got the sampler which comes with fried pimento cheese balls, Bbq soul rolls, deviled eggs, and smoked wings. It came with little hush puppies. Everything was delicious. I did not enjoy the devil eggs they seemed bland. I ordered the cornbread it sort of tasted like apple cinnamon bread to me. I recommend the BBQ soul rolls and the collards. Very good Eats ?

Where to start? This place has the best barbecue I've ever had. When you can make chopped turkey BBQ as moist and tasty as this, everything else must be great! I got the Big Boy plate with ribs, chicken, chopped pork, and brisket. Just fantastic! So much that I had to box the leftovers. You must try the collard greens. I ordered extra to take with the leftovers. And you should save room for the carrot cake. It's normally served cold, but they heated it just enough to slightly melt the cream cheese. Enough to share with multiple people. But you won't want to! Will definitely return.

Good experience. Some items were great others were good. Wait was long and service slow!

First time there, great menu and delicious BBQ

The Eastern style BBQ is absolutely incredible. Cooked to perfection and has incredibly good seasoning. I have no clue how they do it. The collard greens are fabulous as well. Sweet Potato Fries are really solid as well. The Hushpuppies are solid. The only thing that wasn’t the best was the Mac and Cheese. I found it a tad greasy but it was still really good. The Eastern style BBQ and Collards are a MUST have!!

Recently went here with family and friends for an early dinner. We’ve gone to the Raleigh location in several occasions with a great experience. Unfortunately our experience at this location was not so great. Our service was below average, although the young lady was extremely nice she was not knowledgeable of the items on the menu and seemed to be a little disorganized. We were able to order appetizers (the soul rolls were good as well as the pimento bites) and food (all of which were under seasoned and in the case of our slaw a bit slimy). I gave them 2 stars overall because the atmosphere was great and our issues were resolved as they came but definitely could’ve been better.
