Really tasty food with a cool atmosphere. Tons of different options, so everyone can get what they want.Prices are a little high, and the collard greens aren't great, but I'd go back.
Good value and good food. Pretty packed on a hot summer Tuesday evening. Meat was delicious, served very quickly, and at more than fair prices. I had a pork plate with Cole slaw and jalapeño deviled eggs for $11. There are a few beers and soft drinks to choose from. The staff was correct. Lots of places to sit, indoors (which has air conditioning) and outdoors (which is covered but can be pretty hot).
All we can say is WOW! If you are trying to decide where to get BBQ in Durham, this is it!!! This was an amazing meal. We got very large potions of both meat and sides. It was incredibly tasty and tender meat. Everything was very enjoyable. We will look forward to returning again. You will not regret stopping here to eat. We are very big eaters, had a mid-afternoon meal, took some home, and it still kept us full until we went to bed at 11:00! We didn’t have to wait in line at that time, but this place seems very busy!
Had the brisket plate with slaw and pinto beans. The brisket was good , the beans were spicy and the slaw had a nice tangy flavor. Servings were very generous. The staff was nice and helpful. Definitely a great value for some really delicious BBQ!
I love this place! Food is great. By far my favorite BBQ place in Durham. The chicken is my favorite (love the Mac&cheese and fries as well). Sometimes the chicken isn't available though :(
Food was outstanding. The people were not friendly, almost rude. I went twice because my husband was in Duke hospital and requested it a 2nd time. The employees were prickly both times.
The Q Shack is a classic BBQ place offering classic BBQ choices. It's no frills, order-at-the-counter-eat-at-a-picnic-table place. The good: the brisket and smoked turkey in particular. My wife and I each got a "two meat" sampler and it was larger than expected. We could easily have split it, or perhaps split a three-meat option. Also good: fried okra and hushpuppies. A decent selection of canned beers were also available, too All in all, a good place to stop.
Brisket was good and tender, pulled pork was a little fatty. Didn’t care for either of the barbecue sauces we tried. Hush puppies were excellent. The bbq baked beans had a weird mushy texture and the flavor was not to our liking.
There were a number of options from which to choose. Getting the one of the samplers allows you to try a few different BBQ options. They also have numerous side dishes too. The line was long and on a Saturday evening, it was difficult to find parking. This casual restaurant has seating inside and out. I would recommend you stop by the Original Q Shack for your NC BBQ!
Geeat bbq especially the brisket and pulled pork. The ribs and smoked sausage were just ok. Loved the sides and hush puppies !
