I loved the stage, the staff, the sound man, the people, the lights, the atmosphere, the owners, just an all around wonderful experience. Everyone went out of their way to help us, introduce themselves and make the evening run smoothly. Sayer McShane really looks forward to returning for another concert. ??
Fantastic food, drinks, music, staff, super friendly and fun atmosphere! Have moved out of state, and try to come back here on every visit!
Great place for music, dancing, and meeting up with friends. Friendly waitstaff
I had a couple of cocktails and the pulled pork plates. It was so delicious and was even better when paired with great conversation with both bartenders. Parker and Oz are super friendly and knowledgeable! I often dine by myself since I am new to the area and extra appreciate the conversation. They told me about all of the amazing events that they have there as well so make sure to check out their calendar on the website!
Sat outside, there were 6 of us. Service was super quick and friendly. Everything on the menu looked good! I had the catfish po-boy and give it high marks - not as good at Bullock's fried catfish plate but still heck'n good. Give this place a try.
I've never eaten in the restaurant. But the bar/performance space is fantastic. Bill has an eclectic taste in live music, and it's always good. The bar is well stocked, and well staffed, and the food they offer is fantastic. Pick a night with some good live music, arrive a little early, order the chips with pimento cheese dip, and the deviled eggs, and your favorite cocktail - you will thank me later.
We saw a couple of blues bands here, had dinner, and danced. While the dance floor was cement, it was acceptable since there aren't many places with live music and dancing right now. Our server, Kathy, was excellent and very friendly. The black bean burger and fried pickles with ranch were delicious. We had the buffalo cauliflower hoagie (DELICIOUS!) and The Nosh (celery stuffed with pimento cheese is a local delicacy). Our meal was rounded out with a refreshing Blue Note cocktail. Additionally, we tried a whiskey lemonade and a few local beers. There was one band we heard whose sound was unnecessarily and uncomfortably loud, so you might want to bring earplugs just in case.
Great little job BBQ Joint with good food and live Blues baby!! This places books a plethora of premier Blues artists from around the country. Not a bad seat in the house but understand that your perfect view may be obstructed by folks standing directly in front of you to be closer to the stage.
BNG is one of the coolest places to hang in all of Durham. The food is usually pretty good and the atmosphere is very laid back with a soulful vibe. The servers are generally cheery and not afraid to smile. My only complaint with the place is their ticketing service (eTix) and the fact that when you buy online tickets they ding you with a 25% service fee. I don't mind paying fees for tickets but 25% is steep enough to get me to ignore the event calendar and not attend any shows when eTix is involved. And that's a shame because I really like the club and would love to support it more by attending shows there.
Good blues music, tasty food, and good drinks. Come out on a Tuesday evening to watch the jam sessions occur or find a favorite artist to see. This place is an environment to let Blues blossom.
