Nice chill sports bar type of spot with TVs and high tops. The food here was pretty good. Raw and chargrilled oysters, fish & chips, and fried shrimp. Cold beer. Tequila shots. Ate good. Left happy.
The food is fresh and well prepared. The staff is always friendly and knowledgeable of dishes they serve. This is my favorite spot when I want to unwind by myself. This restaurant caters to many pallets with raw or cooked options. Come check out one Durhams gems.
Food was good, fish, shrimp, and fries. Service was great. Now the reason for the low rating. Both doors were open to the outdoor patio. Smoking is permitted on the patio and it wafts inside the restaurant. Most unpleasant. And the flies were vicious, forcing us to keep waving them off our food. Nasty. KEEP THE DOORS CLOSED.
I ordered the grilled oysters, garlic parmesan flavor and a side salad.Grilled oysters - The oysters were just ok. It was mostly cheese and bacon baked onto the oysters. I was expecting full flavors of butter and garlic, but was disappointed. I would try them again but specify to go light on the cheese and more on the garlic and butter.Side salad - I actually really enjoyed my salad. I'm a ranch enthusiast and their ranch was ON POINT.Overall I would try it again, but would not go out of my way for the oysters!
If you're staying near the medical center its a must. Great oysters! Great beer, amazing staff. Even better patrons. Make sure you talk to "Church" if he's there.
One person worked the whole restaurant and bar and rocked it! I’m so sorry I don’t remember her name but she was awesome, enjoyed dinner and love that they have my favorite beer, Red Oak on tap!
I’ve been coming here for a few years now. My first few visits were amazing. Being from the North I have high expectations when it comes to seafood and I’m glad I was not disappointed. The food was flavorful, service was great, atmosphere was nice. The place is a bit small but cozy, almost like a family environment. However, over the past two years the food quality went downhill. It was dry and bland and the service was not that great, presumably due to COVID. I stopped going last year but decided to try again a couple of weeks ago. The food was plentiful, flavorful, and honestly better than it was when I first started going. New chef? Maybe! Definitely worth a visit now. They just need more staff because the place was crowded inside and out with only one server.
Very very good. The only downside was a good bunch of their appetizers were out but thats not their fault so I cant get mad at them. Distributors can only give so much. I will DEFINITELY return when im craving seafood!
They seem to be having a challenge like so many restaurants now, having adequate help. Our waitress worked hard. But we had to shuck our own half peck of oysters. Ordered another dozen shucked and experienced a long delay. Oysters were good. Perhaps I should encourage you to go to get their revenue up that would allow higher wages to attract more help and provide a five star dining experience. They are at risk of going into a downward spiral. Tough business these days.
Food and service were extremely good! The fish and chips was cooked perfectly. Flake cod, good batter, not to heavy! Plenty of fries! Crab bites were good, except for the shell pieces left in the crab mix, but the bright side, I know they aren't frozen! ? Everything was really good! Will be back!
