Wesley provided great service, however the sushi quality was sub par. The spicy tuna roll and California roll were ok, however the tuna nigiri was inedible. The tuna did not taste fresh and was cut in a way that was sinewy and unchewable.
We came in as a family of seven and 3 were children under 12 and 2 were under 6 years old. We were charged gratuity of 25% of the total check when our service was poorly at best. We had to get our own straws, water was never refilled, food was extremely skimpy at most, and the bun bo (spicy beef noodle) was being substituted with another broth and was being presented as an authentic vietnamese bun bo (scandalous). The ikuri sashimi (salmon roe) has been a favorite of mine, i order this frequently and never had any dis-satifistion. Everywhere I've been, an order of Ikuri sashimi always comes in two and the amount of ikuri has always been proportionate to the price (always under $8 at most). At this estashment however, an order of ikuri consist of only ONE, the amount ikuri (salmon roe or salmon eggs) was grossly stingy and the charge for ONE ikuri sashimi here is $13 for ONE with a poorly carved cucumber as being the main actraction and not the ikuri itself. The way this restaurant establishment prepares its food, the amount of food they deem appropriately proportional to the price being charged can only be expressed as two words, "highway robbery" and this practice is the most scandalous and despicable approach to run a business, let alone use it to tricked and deceived your customers is absolutely unacceptable and should be a crime. I do not recommend this place even to my worst enemy. Stay far away from this establishment, your money is best spent elsewhere.
Sake Bomb is our "go to" place for Sushi in Durham. Solid presentation and good service.
A decent place for highly Americanized sushi (the kind where half the rolls have spicy mayo or cream cheese). Extensive menu. Good drinks. Chill vibe.
Not the greatest food, to be honest. It was alright sushi. Service was good even though they were overwhelmed. Went for lunch on a Sunday and is wasn't busy.Their buy one get one sushi is a little sketchy. They won't separate checks so it's always the cheapest ones from the table that will be discounted. They will let you pay with separate cards, though.
First time ordering . Was very disappointed with their signature roll sake bomb roll was very small for $18 and tasteless . That’s my mistake for wrong order . But the Tom kha soup ( order often and make myself) had no lemon grass , Galangal , or ginger and again quite tasteless. Uber eats gave great scores but on review was for delivery not the quality of the food
Sake Bomb has the best sushi around! They also make a delicious drunken noodles. There are plenty of vegetarian options as well. The enviroment of the restaurant is quite nice too. It's generally quiet and the staff is so friendly. Also, their sushi is buy one get one free!!!
Sake Bomb is a friendly and attractively laid out restaurant. They have a sizeable bar area as well as a regular dining room. We had some issues on a previous visit because every roll we selected had a generous pour of eel sauce on it, which was really not to our liking (way too sweet for us). However, we recently revisited and just asked for rolls without the sugar syrup, and the staff were happy to oblige. The food was great with this tweak. Note this is a personal preference, and the menu clearly describes the rolls, including the sauces. The bartender was helpful and now we know how to get a great sushi meal here. Friendly, casual, worth a visit. Staffing is light because of covid etc, so be patient, they are doing their best.
I ordered take out from DoorDash from this place tonight. The takeout boxes were COVERED in sauce, an over all mess. And then the kicker. I open up the topping for the Pho dish and the jalapeño had ACTUAL MOLD. We couldn’t eat anything after seeing that. If someone didn’t notice growing mold on a jalapeño god knows what else was missed. Sad thing is I have been to the place multiple times but this is the first time I ever got take out from them. NEVER again.Oh and I called the restaurant right away. They asked if I wanted exchange it for something else but I didn’t want to after seeing the rotten food. They did not offer to speak the manager or ask if they could call me back. Yeah the gross boxes could have been the delivery people. But this jalapeño was absolutely rotten. It was sitting on top of everything else I was supposed to eat. If you follow correct procedures then explain a furry moldy jalapeño in my entree. An apology would have been a nicer response than what I received from the owner. No excuse.
