Great ambience and very happening. Definitely a place to chill with friends and family.A little on the expensive side, very european feel to the dishes, not the greatest quantity but the presentation and quality of ingredients make it worth it. Ricotto dumplings were top notch. Try the cremini mushroom pizza.
Favorite pizza place in Durham hands down. Make sure to get their pizza that uses their fennel sausage. The kale salad is simple and a great light starter while you wait for your pizza. I love getting their spicy oil too and drench the crust with it. Yum! I'm getting hungry and might need to go back tonight. Bar seating is around back and one of our favorite spots at here.
Very high quality pizza is delivered rapidly. Note that the tables are long and large so you will likely sit next to someone from another party. Very extensive liquor options. Good service.
Friendly staff. This place is packed tight which makes me feel all the better about requiring proof of vaccination to attend. Food and drink was delicious. Pizza is one size but easy to share. Staff is knowledgeable on the items and you can see the pizza oven from anywhere in the place.
Not a bad seat in the house here! We sat in the bar today but every time I have visited we have enjoyed tremendous hospitality alongside very well prepared food, including pizzas with a nice variety of toppings, even Meyer Lemon. Save room for dessert, you must have the Budino!
First of al I appreciated their commitment to covid safety. I rarely eat pizza that is not home-made but in this case I am glad I made an exception because the taste and texture were outstanding. I guess the wood-fired process makes a difference? Who knew? Our waiter was also very friendly and accommodated our special requests. The brussels sprouts were amazing, as was the kale salad. Note - Though I forgot my vaccine card and was worried at first that we would not be seated, I was able to pull up confirmation from my email and that served as proof. It was good to see that they were firm on this requirement.
Food was phenomenal, but- they require proof of vaccine then seat you in either a shared table with another party, or on a half booth/half table that is so close together, you have to squeeze out and have no privacy or space. There were no individual tables, everything is extremely close together. They automatically put a 20% tip on your bill regardless of satisfaction of service. The food was great but not great enough to deal with the dine-in setting and forced tip! And apparently there’s a fee to order online, so …! That stinks.
Pizzaria Toro loves up to the hype. The pigs ears are delicious and their unique selection of personal-sizes pizzas are all wonderful. Definitely a great place to eat if you want to take a familiar food like pizza and then step it outside the usual comfort zone it occupies.
