This place is great, but the chicken is a little too salty. You know our people already have problems with hypertension. Would still go back.
The chicken is good when the grease is fresh. I asked for my 25 piece chicken to be fried in fresh grease because the last time I came here it was the same issue. Instead I got crispy fried chicken that smelled just like old grease and tastes the same. I spend to much money here to have my food cooked in old grease. It’s disgusting. This is my last time buying food from this restaurant.
I only give 2 stars because of the service from the cashier (was NOT the daughter). she was kind and pleasant.The food looked delicious, but the macaroni and cheese was absolutely horrible. I ordered the 2 choice combo, wings and catfish and it came with 2 sides. The string beans were bland and the portion size of the sides are a joke. The only tasty thing was the Chicago style sauce.
This place is absolutely awesome, If you love fried chicken. I ordered the 2 piece dark meat with coleslaw.Whatever Chicago style is its delicious. Not at all greasy with a slightly seasoned breading that really let's the juicy chicken be the star of the show. The coleslaw was nice and creamy.The bonus is that you will love the price. Really pretty cheap. My meal was 4.99.My friend said that the trout, corn on the cob and fried ocra was good also.See for yourself it's located in Durham.
So, for a first time at Mr. Shark’s - two things immediately stood out: 1) they give REAL sized fish and chicken wings here. None of those tiny wings like you get at other spots. You can tell these pieces of fish (catfish, specifically) are real. Maybe they’re fortunate in their sourcing; and 2) they say lightly fried and they mean it. The batter wasn’t too thick and it stayed crisp all the way on my drive home (I live in North Durham) and it definitely tasted Chicago-style. I won’t mind driving to get more of this.
I visited this establishment for the first time yesterday afternoon. It appeared to be a nice little mom and pop restaurant and not busy at all so I thought ok let me try them out. I go in the ONLY person there and placed my order and two others came in after me. When my order and the guy that entered after me were up (at the same time) the the cashier decided to grab the mans order and hand it to him and rang him up for additional items. So when I stepped to the counter I mentioned this to her and she laughs and says so you mad? Now this takes me back a bit and I told her no I'm not I'm just bringing this to her attention, well this girl now has this arrogant attitude and takes her time giving me my order. I tell her give me my order so I can go she tells me she doesn't have to give me anything (wrong answer after I paid for it) she raises her voice and steps in view where her father can see her as we are now both raising our voices and she throws my order on the counter. Now her father comes out to defuse the situation and she says something to him in their language and storms in the back. I let him know what was said before he came out so he didn't think I was just verbally abusing his daughter he was very apologetic but the damage was already done with her smart mouth. But the moral of the story is they need to get a better cashier in there! I will NEVER visit there again and will discourage others from going there as well. Durham has too many restaurants to worry about this one!! The chicken was good but the sides sucked anyway!
Food is good and all but their daughter is mad disrespectful. She disrespected my mother (a costumer) and I don’t play that. The girl also tried to withhold our food which my mom had already paid for.They need to do something with they’re daughter, It’s bad for their business it seems they haven’t did anything about her as the previous reviews have stated about that cashier. I will say the father was very nice and apologetic but we will never visit your establishment again…
Oh wow, super delicious from the first bite to the last. My eyes were wide opened as soon as I tasted it. I had 4 wings and hush puppies (plus some tips). Both are on point. The seasoning on the wings is yummy. Crispy and fresh.
