Awesome empanadas and chimichurri sauce.
The crust is delicate and light and tasty, a perfect balance to the succulent fillings. you must try them all! The counter service is so warm and friendly!
I stumbled upon this gem a few weeks ago when I wandered into the are- lost. I was lost. Anyway the food was AMAZING and the staff super friendly. I had the veggie and the cheese and was not disappointed. The crust was flakey and hot and the stuffing was well seasoned. Honestly I cant wait to go back. Prices are affordable and a great value for taste, quality, and amount. Glad I got lost that day!
Empanadas are always fresh and delicious! We have gotten them both at Morgan Street Food Hall and thru Uber Eats!
Just got some empanadas through Uber eats. I was skeptical at first, but they arrived hot and fresh. The order was EXACTLY what I ordered, even with the multiple requests. Customer for life right here!
This small place located in a strip mall off Hwy 54 in Harris Teeter shopping center is clean and affordable for good food. As a first time customer, the young man was great at explaining the menu which is on the wall and printed, so easy for anyone to see and understand. I got one beef and one chicken and the black beans and rice. I love that the empanadas are baked and not fried as the latin people do. A lot healthier for you baked. The crust was good, they were served hot after just a few minutes wait. I ate there and noticed they did a lot of take out orders while I was there. I like the beef one the best, as the chicken one had a good sauce but small chunks of chicken. Both were filled nicely, but the beef had more meat. The beans and rice were good, but not like the latin ones. People here are used to the latin black beans....this is food from Argentina folks, it is different. The rice had a few veggies in it which I liked. It was served hot too, yea! I will return and get the meal deal next time and try the spinach empanada for sure. I enjoy trying different kinds of food and I have discovered I like the food in Argentina!
I'm from Argentina and I went to Makus Empanadas in Durham North Carolina. Imagine my surprise when I found this place with plenty of flavours, argentinian people and the delicious cochitos with dulce de leche. Love the empanadas, especially the Pork chimichurri and the Beef. The place had a strong sense of family, reunion and he taste was just like in Buenos Aires. Congratulations to the people behind making the empanadas !! Keep it up!!
I went to Makus to pick up a Party pack. I previously order through the app. The person at the restaurant was very nice and she explained everything to me. The store is fantacstic and it had the story of the place on the walls, pictures of guests and of the owner too. When I was leaving I get to meet one of the. owner that was coming in, and he helped me with everything to the car. THANK YOU!!!! When we had the food at home with some of my friends, everyone loved the empanadas. (We had beef, chicken, Pork and ham & Cheese) and the chipa bread.....OMG! It was a succes! I would love to go back next time I go to Durham!!
We went into the place and ordered a take out. What a terrible idea! Food was awful, and did not taste like they put any spices in it. When picking up the order, the person who served us was very rude and did not give us plates/napkins as we asked.
Generally, I avoid writing negative reviews, but not this time. At approx 7:00 PM tonight, my wife & I picked up the Family Dinner, and two extra empanadas, to eat w/ our boys in our hotel room. The restaurant was NOT busy at all, so there is not excuse for what we received. Also, despite the fact that it was pick-up, we gave a 15% tip, left to buy some wine at the neighboring supermarket, and then came back. There was NO HURRY. Despite all of this, we received NO sauce, despite asking for both types. The beans & rice, and the empanadas, especially the veggie, were very bland, so the sauce was sorely missed. There was large hair on the outside (NOT inside) of one of the side containers. We were given three sets of utensils and no plates, despite asking several times if "everything" was inside. For positive, very affordable.
