Wow! We picked up cheese pepper bread, squash croissant, tomato tart, cinnamon bun, salted caramel bun, walnut maple bar....I'm blown away as we are eating them at home in southern VA. I think our favorite is the salted caramel bun. I've had pastries all over as I own a cafe.....this is the best I have had...ever.
We're traveling in the Research Triangle cities from AL and came across Loaf while talking a walk in downtown. The bakery actually just closed for the day but when the owner saw us at the door, he came out to greet me and my husband, gave us 2 blueberry galettes for free and welcomed us back in the future. We were so appreciative of his kindness and the pasty was absolutely delicious. If you're ever in downtown Durham, this is the place to go!
I'm struggling to understand what others find even remotely special in this place. Mediocre stuff that need more seasoning. The bakery in itself is uninviting and lacking in all sorts of ways. I would sum up the entire experience as strange and an utter waste of time.

Unless you want to be stuck eating the best pastries and croissants in durham don't come here. This is my favorite spot for something fun in these uncertain times. Always worth it.
Top notch bakery with great breads and sweet and savory pastries. The Nanaimo bars are excellent as are the twice baked croissants and the lunch flatbreads.
Best baked goods I've had since returning from Paris.
I have been coming to this bakery regularly since roughly 2015(?) All of the sudden this year they only have certain items (ham cheese croissant, nanimo bars etc) on certain days. This is very disappointing and off putting as a regular customer. How are you out of something that I purchased everyday this week? You're a bakery...make more maybe? The lady at the register was very condescending with her tone.....I'm so sad ? I miss things pre-covid!!!
Its a small business and just for to go BUT Every single pastry piece is delicious and looks divines!!!I totally recommend The Christmas pastries??
Great central location and beautifully crafted goodies. I was especially taken by the almond cake and key lime bar.
