UPDATED FROM 1ST REVIEWI've reduced my stars by one after a 2nd and 3rd gracious chance to change my mind, this place has failed to deliver the goods. Each time the food has been hyped up to more than it actually is. I've eaten tons of oxtail from various places across the state and this one is by far is my least liked. The oxtail are small and tough, the rice again, was overcooked. The cabbage were okay. nothing to brag about but okay. I also ordered the chicken wings. Basic. Just basic. With three tried and nothing that wows, I'm suggesting the following places:V's Kitchen for oxtail and cabbage and cornbread and potato saladGOLDEN CORRAL for fried chickenBackyard BBQ for smothered chops and yams and potato saladSORRY. But I did try 3 times. The inside dining is nice and clean. I've heard good things about this place. Maybe I showed up on the wrong day. But when you say you serve smothered pork chops, I expect more than a sweeping of gravy on top of 2 fried pork chops. The flavor was okay, but a touch too salty. The hushpuppies, with only 3 small ones in an entree just were okay. Cookout quite possibly be much better. The potato salad was alright. It definitely had sweet relish and sugar present. Now the rice was cooked well. It was nice and fluffy. It proudly would've been better without the gravy. Now the cabbage, in its smallest of servings was good. It had a nice clean flavor, not heavy in the seasonings or meat flavor, just some good cabbage. The texture of it was just right too.I hate this was my 1st experience as we need some more soul good in the area. I'm going to go back because i want to try the oxtail. But it's a wrap for them alleged smothered chops.

Their food was extremely good. I’ve gotten the barbecue ribs, rice, pinto beans, and cabbage mixed with collard greens. Everything was amazing!! The ribs fall off the bone and was seasoned well. My husband and I drove from North Myrtle Beach SC to try you guys out. Those 3.5 hours was well worth it and we don’t mind taking another trip back there. If anyone decides to go to this restaurant, you will not be disappointed. Thank you for the amazing food and hospitality! We will definitely see you guys soon!

Good food good customer service my go to is the steak rice n gravy mac n cheese mixed greens

Just moved to the triangle area and wanted to find some southern/soul food. Found this place and I thoroughly enjoyed it! Food came out real fast. I got hot honey wings, fried okra, and fried shrimp. My partner got the same wings but with fries. We loved it and ate it all, lemonade was great as well! The ladies working at the front were friendly and checked on us twice to make sure we enjoyed the food too :) will definitely be coming back!

The cuisine is very delicious and tasty. I especially enjoyed the desserts and lemonade. Thank you to the staff for always providing such welcoming services, will surely be back soon?

We went here for the first time today and will definitely be back! Best honey hot wings I’ve ever had by a landslide. Perfectly crispy, sauce was delicious. Fries are excellent too as well as their fried shrimp. Everyone in the comments saying they’re rude are totally wrong and just being ridiculous…they checked on us three times asking if everything was alright and were super sweet. People saying they sometimes argue — it’s a family business what do you expect lol! Nothing was salty either, if you can appreciate perfectly seasoned food you will love this place.

Absolutely delicious. Best soul food in Durham for sure. Had the ox tails, lemon pepper wings, potato salad, greens, and Mac and cheese. Blueberry raspberry lemonade also hit the spot and can’t forget the apple pie.Great customer service and happy to support a black owned business. I plan to go again and again.

I drove from Maryland to handle some business and didn't stop to eat because I had planned with my friend to "Let's Eat Soul Food"! It didn't disappoint. My sisters met us there and we had the best time trying each others entree's and socializing over some really good food and apple lemonade. As I drove back to Maryland in the wee hours of the morning, I realized that I should have gotten a pork chop sandwich for the road. The food, the ambiance and the owner were exceptional. I will be back!

Food was great! I had the fried pork chops with mac n cheese and yam souffle. I've never had the yams like that but they were really good and the lemonade is just a perfect companion. The man in the front had an awesome attitude and exceptional customer service which made our experience even better. Will definitely be back.

The food is perfectly seasoned and the staff is friendly and caring!
