Unfortunately, I had to sit and watch my family eat, because they ran out of everything I was able to eat, and didn't want to ruin their experience after a 7hour drive and working a full day on our farm. Our reservation was for 7:45pm and they close at 10, but because they were understaffed we waited about 35 minutes before our waiter came to the table to allow us to order. They were really under understaffed and instead of the other waiters helping each other, they decided to ignore other tables completely. Three tables that arrived at least 15 minutes after us, ordered before us and I was left without any food to eat.The place looked nice, was really promising, but I was highly disappointed with their management. We also paid ahead of time for the reservation, and I don't even think we got that back.45 minutes after my mom ordered, she found out they ran out of her order also.Disappointed is an understatement.Dietary restrictions: If you have dietary restrictions I wouldn't go here because they may run out of what you can eat like they did during my experience.
Stopped to eat before DPAC show .Food was delicious - especially garlic shrimp. So good! We also enjoyed our drinks: mojito and Cuban Libre. Great food, but be prepared to pay for it. Will definitely come back back.
Everything we tried is so good! We were here celebrating graduation and our server Doug was very welcoming and warm. Paella is a must-order, but do order in advance since it’ll take 45 minutes to make. The only part we are not too satisfied is their small portions. I could probably finish the Paella myself even though it said serve two on the menu.
Do not go here, the food was very expensive and the portions were very small. We were only 2 people and left hungry. Ordered 2 apps and 2 main courses. The fish was a ridiculously small portion, actually a joke for the price. The apps included 6 tiny shrimp and 4 tiny meatballs. The bill included a 20% Living Wage Fee, never heard of this and they asked for a tip on top of it. The service was rookie level and the food was not great. Posted a photo of our $101 bill, no drinks included. Avoid at all costs, unless you are throwing your money away. I always tip well at restaurants and do not need them to add in a 20% mandatory fee and then guilt me into leaving an additional tip on top of that.
The service was good, the atmosphere was serene unfortunately the food was disappointing. I asked for condiments for the pork, mojito was delicious and necessary for flavor. The flan was bitter and the expresso machine was broken with no coffee choices. The living wage 20% adjustment added to the bill was an insult and should have been discussed prior to seating.Unfortunately I chose the wrong spot to dine for my first night in Durham.
The cracklin bread was awesome. Also the olives. Staff is very friendly. My wife had the Ropa Vieja and was delicious, i had the Havana style fish. Mine was pretty good, just different from my normal kind of food.
Only leaving 4 stars because in the opinion of myself and my friends, the food & drinks are a bit pricey for what you get, but that also seems common for tapas places. However, our server Blake (sp) deserves all the stars you can give! They were excellent and made our experience super fun. They answered any and all questions we had and also made excellent suggestions. If we go back, it would be because of Blake!
Exceptional quality in service and food. The atmosphere was crisp and clean. Everything we tasted was phenomenal. Loved the friendly and helpful service. Copa did not disappoint!
This restaurant has been on my "to try" list for a while so I'm glad I got to order takeout from here recently. I ordered the coconut curry shrimp, which was to die for! My friend ordered The Havana, and he really liked it. We shared the chocolate cake for dessert, which was delicious. We didn't feel up to dining in at the restaurant so we ordered carryout, but one thing I should mention is that this restaurant requires proof of vaccination to dine there. I really liked the vibe here, and they have a few seafood options, which are my favorite so I'll definitely return here.
Food is solid, if a bit lacking on the seasoning front. You're definitely paying for the impression of authenticity in some respects. Honestly, their take on a Cuban was the best part of the meal- not a bad choice.A 20% "Living Wage fee" is tacked on in addition to tip- this is just another example of restaurant ownership pushing the cost of respecting their employees' basic rights onto the customer. Ownership should take a smaller paycheck to support their FOH/BOH staff-- tipping was already one layer of shoving that responsibility onto customers. Adding another is just insulting, especially considering this "Living Wage fee" is probably advertised as an example of Copa "respecting" their employees rather than finding new and creative ways to degrade them.Won't be back. If you really want to respect your employees, become an employee-owned restaurant and democratize your workplace.
