Horrible customer service, and ridiculous 20% FORCED tip, on top of asking you for an additional top. The owner has addressed this issue with a pretty poor explanation for it. There are many solutions to the issues small businesses have during a pandemic rather than forcing customers to pay 20% for non-service (it’s a coffee stand you order at similar to the process at Starbucks). The customer service is also horrible.
Went here for a afternoon pick me up. They have a pretty good selection. They sell coffee bags, but I think only jay z can afford them. They were $35 a bag.I’d recommend going for just a to go.Good cofffee for sure
I absolutely loved this place! I was passing through town and decided to stop after a friend who grew up in the area told me about it. The baristas were extremely friendly and the coffee was perfect. I got an iced Dr. Durham which had the right (imo) milk to espresso ratio and wasn’t too sweet! I’m seeing a lot of comments about how they dislike this place because they add 20% gratuity, but as someone who works in service as well please understand that this is what pays their bills. Most service industry jobs aren’t remotely close to being a livable wage, so before you trek out and get your favorite local coffee only to complain that a 20% tip was added, just keep in that in mind! Service workers are heros. In regards to the vibe, they had so many outdoor seating options either in the shade or in the sun. It made studying a lot less miserable. I wish I lived closer, this place rocks!
I just randomly stopped by today— just now. I know nothing about coffee except black straight up it’s intimidating to order coffee when you don’t know anything about it. The two girls behind the bar were great they surprised me with the coffee shops signature coffee. It was fabulous my only regret is I wish I had gotten a bigger one. This will be a regular stop on my way home to Apex maybe one day I will be able to sit and enjoy the outside at one of there bistro tables, thanks girls!!
Decent coffee, cool atmosphere, parking available as well with outdoor seating. Be careful when purchasing, I found out afterwards that they automatically select gratuity options on your behalf during purchasing which was shocking; I’m not sure why.. I would go back to try a chai which they didn’t have in stock
I had a great experience at Cocoa Cinnamon. I came from Raleigh to purchase some Little Waves coffee beans, which my husband and I just discovered and LOVE. I grabbed a drink (or two) while I was there. Savannah took my order and even stepped around the counter to give me advice on which coffee beans to buy. They were very friendly and helpful and definitely made my experience more enjoyable.
The espresso is tasty; the drinks are surprisingly original; the ambiance is comfy steampunk chic. The team is super nice and skilled. Yum yum yum, getcha sum
I tried this place after hearing many good things about it but unfortunately the coffee and the overall experience didn’t live up to the hype. The Americano I ordered was mediocre at best but my biggest point of contention was the 20% “automatic gratuity” that was included in the order. There was no signage indicating this and it was only mentioned as the cashier mumbled it under their breath as they spun the screen around for me to sign for the purchase. Dishonest and questionable to say the least.
Really delicious and affordable pricing for the quality. The staff were attentive and helpful. I got my drink efficiently and with no issues. I look forward to coming back here again when I'm in the area!
First, the coffee and pastry were great. The point of my review is to share a weird checkout experience. I would have questioned this in person this morning, but in my normal job, I'm having to confront and manage people quite a bit; when I have my morning coffee, it's time for me to relax and check out for a few minutes. I went along and didn't say anything to the checkout associate as this odd experience transpired this morning.I ordered coffee and a churro, I pulled out my card to pay. The checkout person rotated the Square checkout screen for me to sign and said, "just choose No Tip, as we've already added a 20% gratuity". Excuse me? I usually leave a $1.00 tip minimum to whatever I order at similar places, but it's my choice. Never have I been forced to leave a tip. A tip is always voluntary! (I worked a few years waiting tables, I understand tipping, thanks!).There are two options from the shop as I see it. Raise prices on food, and allow customers to tip as they wish; or add a Surcharge and communicate this to customers, and still give the option to tip. Whichever option, the tip is not something that should be dictated by management. The price listed should be the price charged. I believe there's an FTC requirement on this simple practice. What is really going on here? Are employees actually given the tip, or is this just general sales revenue? And do I really want to support this business with this weird checkout scheme? As I stated, the coffee and food is top notch- but the business practices are fishy. Would love a public response from ownership. Maybe I'm missing something? I really want to support this business, but this experience was a head scratcher. In a previous Google review that is posted on this site (about ten months ago), the owner stated the 20% tip is added so that transactions can be contactless, but today I was instructed to sign and select "No Tip"(touching the screen) so there's a disconnect here.If ownership could respond to this message, and explain the policy, I'll be glad to revisit the shop and then do a follow up review. Thanks!
