The Sea Bass is to die for! We had the Sea Bass with Risotto and it was by far the best we’ve ever had. Great music, incredible food, and superb service. Can’t wait to go back.

We miss Alton’s! ? PP is a very pleasant place to eat, and the food is good, but not great. $18 for a martini - $20 for a burger … WAY too pricey! We went at least 4-5 x a month to Alton’s. Sadly, a disappointment. Manager took very good care of us on opening night when there were a few mistakes.

Our first experience at Peninsula Prime was not what we had hoped. We were regulars at Alton’s at least 2-3 times per week. Last week one of the new owners reached out to us and asked for us to give them another try and we did. We had our favorite server Margot whom we love!!! Fromstart to finish it was absolutely fabulous!!! We are so happy we gave them another chance. Thank you Robin for your generosity and kindness. Craig and I look forward to meeting you soon

Tried Peninsula Prime last night, wanted very much to like it. Personally, I didn't care for the renovations, they clash with the traditional wood and fireplace that were left in place and don't, in my opinion, enhance the atmosphere. The issue with that space in my mind has always been sound. There is no ceiling and sound bounces off the metal and makes the restaurant loud and muddled when full. If you want to spend reno dollars you need sound absorbing panels hanging from the ceiling. The service people are nice but overwhelmed. They are also managed inefficiently in my view. Our server, for example, was serving us in the bar area, tables on the main floor and one table upstairs. I can't imagine anyone got good service. As for the food I have to say we were disappointed. My wife's salad had some brown wilted lettuce, the sauces for raw oysters are interesting but out there, should offer traditional cocktail sauce, the food was generally bland and the medium rare steak was medium if I'm being generous. As disappointing, they can't do a Pittsburg sear which I assume speaks to lack of a high temp grill. While the steak was at a medium temp internally it still didn't have a sear. The cut of meat was good, issues on the prep side. The food probably works at Jack's Tap but at this price point you will need to step it up. Lastly, and this is a nit, the 4% "surcharge" for using a credit card (its the 21st century FYI) feels cheap. If you want to call yourself "Prime", be Prime. If you want to offer a 4% discount (I'm guessing is 6-8 dollars for a couple) I would footnote it one the menu versus a sheet of paper taped to the window, it feels cheap. I hope you guy's figure it out, I really am pulling for you, we need a "mini del frisco's" here.

Missing Alton's!!! Tried Peninsula Prime last evening. The new decor is pleasing and it's a decent atmosphere. We were seated upstairs and had to change tables due to the darkness. The tables need some type of candle or ambient lighting. We had to use our cellphones to see the menu. The menu has a good selection: although a soup offering would be great. Salads were fresh and dressings very light. Croutons on my Caesar were sparse at best but they had no problem bringing more. Service and staff were wonderful.Presentation was great and everything was cooked perfectly. However, most items were lacking in flavor and bordered on bland. The price point seemed a bit high; similar to Uptown. Which would be fine if the taste was up to the same standards. All in all, it was a good experience. Still on the fence about returning. Will likely stick with Epic Chop or 73 & Main.

I miss Alton’s! Went to Peninsula Prime for the first time. Was a frequent patron at Alton’s with my friends. Was expecting a nicer experience. All we got was a more expensive check. First impression: I was very disappointed with the renovations. Just looked like a lot of extra mirrors and a little cheap tile and wallpaper but honestly didn’t look any different and certainly not the step up or elegance we hoped we would see. . Really dislike the large mirror surround on the large fireplace. It all looked kind of amateurish unfortunately and did not improve the atmosphere at all to reflect the fancier menu. As far as the meal, service was very slow but peasant. Had to remind several times for water refills, to bring my wine, for silverware and an extra plate. The shrimp and fried avocado appetizer was ok, but the avocado a bit bland, the green cilantro/chimichurri type drizzle very flavorful, just not enough of it. Had the sugared pecan and goat cheese salad which was good with apple cider vinaigrette. I got the salmon which I liked. My friend got the prime rib which she was not impressed with at all. The roasted vegetables on the side were giant chunks of broccoli and other vegetables but were not great. Our bills were over $100 each with tip and a couple of drinks. Truly not a special enough dinner or atmosphere to warrant that much. Way too many other nice places for that price. We won’t be back.

I had a party of 6 here last evening. The decor, ambiance and food were amazing. They were very busy and we heard some complaints, but we had a great experience. Our server was Margot and she was amazing. We started with devils on horseback and the shrimp and avocado both amazing. The sea bass, meatloaf and filet were outstanding. The music was hip and the place had an amazing vibe. We will be back a lot and look forward to having a great steakhouse in the community?

I love the new Peninsula Prime. The ambiance is warm and inviting with the beautiful staircase and woodwork. The glass chandeliers and glass-trimmed bar add elegance. The bartenders were very attentive and I only had appetizers but they were delicious. The prices are comparable to Charlotte's upscale dining establishments without having to fight the Charlotte traffic! Definitely worth a visit!

I got the pleasure of trying peninsula prime on their first day of being open to the public. The atmosphere had a great uplift, Alton’s was very dated and the new decor and menu are fantastic. We tried the sea bass which was phenomenal! We also tried The crème brûlée which was to die for! Their bartenders are up to par as well, want a good drink? Definitely swing by! Can’t wait to go back and try more of the yummy delights on their menu!

Dinner Saturday night was excellent. Attentive staff, appetizers were very tasty, lovely cocktails and entrees were on point. Highly recommend the sea bass, meatloaf, and filet. We will be back!
