DANGER! PLEASE BEWARE!!! On our last visit to La Cocina Clayton, my wife and I got take out as we frequently have done many times prior. There were no issues with her ACC, or the order of guacamole. My order of chiles poblanos however, came with a nasty surprise inside. A very sharp shard of wood that caused a pretty nasty cut in my mouth. Not ideal. I sent an email later that day through their website, but received no reply. I sent another email a week later. No reply. And one final email the following week. I never received any reply and I forgot about it until going through my receipts and seeing the receipt from this visit. I decided to call today and requested to speak with a manager. I was put on hold and then had a conversation with a gentleman who had nothing to say other than "that sometimes happens", regarding the wood shard, and that "they usually remove it". Furthermore, he refused to do anything to keep us as customers because, as he repeated, "it happened back in February and if you would have contacted us back then...", to which I reminded him that I did. Several times. He then fell into a repetitive loop where it was essentially my fault because no one got back to me via email. It's a shame because the food was usually pretty good and we went there frequently. I do not appreciate the lack of concern or willingness to take ownership of what was clearly their negligence. I saved the receipt and several pictures of the shard of wood to show him if need be, but he seemed uninterested in doing the right thing by a long time customer. Please be careful if you dine there. If you have a problem, you may be treated the way that I was. BEWARE.
Service was good but the food was just a step up from taco bell. With how fast we got our food, I know for a fact they just have a bunch of containers in the back with precooked food and just put it on the plate for each order. Cheese sauce was watery to the point where my gf just turned her burrito into a salad because the tortilla fell apart. It’s so popular for the low prices but you get what you pay for.
La Cocina of Clayton, NC is one of those restaurants where Five Stars is not enough. When entering you are greeted and seated immediately. No shortage of staff here. After being seated someone will take your drink order deliver chips to your table and look after you very quickly. When dining at the Clayton La Cocina the only issue I ever find is, just how high of a percentage of tip I should leave. This time it was 35%. I wish I could patronize this business two or three times a week. It never lets me down.
I go here all the time. I order out or dine in. Always pretty busy but never have to wait long to be sat. Good comes out pretty fast. If you order a large margarita be aware is HUGE. Comes in this large beer mug. Wouldn't recommend driving after that lol. I don't drink so I was fine. Good places for kids. I have a young baby and it's loud enough so she's not a huge distraction to other people. Food is always delicious and very filling.
Excellent food and price. Never disappointed.
Went here, for my son's 22nd birthday. He, didn't like his food/acp (he has had this particular dish before, so he knows what it is supposed be like), said it was watery. My, boyfriend said his chicken in his chimichanga meal, was dry and flavorless. I, received the wrong meal, didn't eat it. Chips were cold and hard, almost to the point of being stale, much prefer THIN and WARM chips. Salsa was good, nice flavor. Margarita, was not good, it was just a regular one, and the color was even off, didn't look or taste right, also served in a beer mug. Waiter, was nice, only issue was, he couldn't understand English very well. I guess that's why I didn't get what I ordered. I, ordered a chicken chimichanga, got chicken enchiladas.
I feel really bad to give this place such a low rating but to be honest the food here was not great. The Nachos Supreme were decent but my meal as well as my fiancées was not good at all. It was definitely not the type of food we were used to and she even made a comment saying that she did not like her meal after one bite and we still had to pay for it. I don’t know, this place wasn’t exactly special and I do feel bad giving it ONE star but I honestly would never come back. My burrito literally had BARBEQUE sauce on it lol. It was kinda gross if I am being honest. Unfortunately, there are better options nearby that will make you happier!
This is our go to Mexican restaurant. It is clean and convenient. It is reasonably priced and has lots of choices. The wait staff is hit or miss. We had wonderful waitress this last time but have had some real losers in the past. If the weather permits eating outside is fun and under some shade. Lots of parking!
We got seated quickly even though the restaurant was busy. Waiter came right over and took our drink and food order. I ordered a chicken chimichanga and halfway through I found what looked to be a bone. Looking at it closer turns out it was a toothpick. Told our waiter whose reply was “they put a toothpick in it while frying to hold the tortilla together “ which I understood but that could have been very dangerous and it was only HALF of the toothpick. The waiter offered me a tequila shot (I don’t drink and did not order an alcoholic drink the night of our visit). He brought the tequila shot anyway which my husband did drink. A more appropriate solution to this complaint would have been better!
Best Mexican food in Clayton hands down. Don’t go nowhere else.
