Lived up to Crawford expectations!Food was delicious. Cocktail was balanced and fresh. Crawford soups are my favorite, and this one didn’t disappoint. Salad was piled high and crispy with super soft cheese. Pork chop was perfectly cooked atop super savory grits. Dessert was a hard choice, but we went with our waitresses suggestion and it was the best bread pudding I’ve ever tasted. Ambience is classy and sleek. Service was classy and our waitress stayed on top of filling my husbands constantly emptied water class. We’ll be back!
My husband and I went last night for the first time and had a wonderful experience. We sat outside but because of the heaters we stayed warm and toasty. We both got the Crawford Old Fashioned which was great. We ordered the oysters, clam chowder, venison meatloaf, hanger steak and finished the the bread pudding. Over all everything was delicious. If I had any feedback it would be a little less fresh herbs on the dishes… they took away from the appearance of the whole dish because it looked like they grabbed a handful and threw it right on top. My only other complaint would be my husband ordered a double shot of Barrel bourbon and to our surprise they charged us MORE for that drink than the hanger steak meal… The hanger steak meal was $32 and the double shot was $37 for some pretty basic bourbon… Other than that we enjoyed the experience and the food.
Great meal! Had steak it was amazing! Fried oysters outstanding! Old fashion drinks are sooo good!
Very happy for another original restaurant addition to Clayton. People want original eateries outside of the homogenized, typical choices that exist… I’m glad for this place. It was packed and full of happy people. Our dinner was ok… The pimento cheese and rabbit was enjoyable.. the oysters were not.. too much in the bread crumb department.. The mushroom ragout was out of place and seemed like a missing addition to a main dish vs. a side. The trout was too salty and prepared with too much butter… overall the experience was good. The venue is loud but the service was good and again, I’m so happy for a local restaurant with high quality food… I just think the place needs more time to calibrate.. Less butter and salt and a deeper menu.
Such a great meal! For my fellow gluten free friends, there are plenty of options on the menu that either are already gluten free or can be prepared to be so. The manager was there and also running as a server since they were short staffed - but you would never have known their short staffed, everything was timely and service was great. And she and other staff were just a delight, too!Highly recommend the grilled romaine salad (why are we not grilling our lettuce more often?!), chicken dish, and for dessert - the CHOCOLATE POT (literal heaven).
So excited to have such a unique place in Clayton! I’ve been twice so far and each time was incredible. The outdoor patio is very comfortable. The atmosphere is fun and casual. The service is amazing(Valerie was our server both times and she made each experience fun and exciting! Absolutely love her!)The food is amazing. I’ve only been twice but we’ve tried so much. My favorites have been the smoked wings and bread pudding!I’m definitely going to be a regular there!
We went last night for New Year’s Eve; the atmosphere was great! We loved the covered patio and the seating was very comfortable. Our waitress was very attentive and the food/cocktails were excellent. Very happy to have another “date night” option in downtown Clayton.
Made reservations for last night with my husband! The food and cocktails were amazing. My favorite were the crispy hot wings and the fall off the bone soy sesame wings. They also had great cocktails, I had a Mezcal cocktail and my husband had the Crawford old-fashioned. I’m so happy this amazing spot is in our community! We have a lot of family that comes visit from out of state and this is a perfect place to bring them out for a delicious dinner and cocktails — without having to drive all the way out to Raleigh. So lucky to have this great culinary experience right down the street!
Nice new restaurant addition to downtown Clayton. Best to call ahead for reservations. We were able to sit at the bar for dinner. Bar is great. Good conversations with other customers and bartenders. Great drink menu. Food menu is not your normal which was a nice change. We had the Crispy Catfish Sandwich and Caramelized Winter Squash, both were delicious! There is also outside seating on the deck.
Wow, yet another amazing creation by Chef Scott Crawford!! The space is absolutely amazing - cannot wait to come here and spend hours sitting outside and snacking on all of the vast options! The outside space is open year round (except extreme wind and weather)!!The place was so packed and I know they are incredibly understaffed at the moment (what crazy times for businesses who cannot get enough help) and yet the service was still fantastic!! Not to mention it was only their 2nd week open - initial weeks or months of opening can be a challenge! Only challenge for them is being able to take everyone who wants to dine due to full reservations! We started off with the Crispy Hot Wings - I do not know how they get them so crispy, but I love it! They went quick! Next week had the Grilled Oysters - so good! The bread on this dish is so smoky - I do not know how they accomplish that, but what an amazing contrast of flavors! Next were the Grilled Romaine Hearts - check out the char on this salad - so fantastic. Okay, I saved my favorite for last - the Mushroom Ragout - this dish was so incredibly surprising - the most incredibly flavorful dish and you would never even believe you are eating mushrooms! Umami as my friend calls it! ;)I cannot wait to get back there, so hopefully sometime this week. My recommendation is to make sure you make a reservation as I do not think this will have walk-in capabilities like most of his restaurants, but especially not until this pandemic is behind us and we have more available staff! Thank you to the team for a great experience - I am eyeing my next dishes!!
