Wow been in Charlotte for 6 years and this is my first time eating from here. Definitely been missing out, my meal was absolutely delicious. I got the brown stew chicken and it came with plantains, cabbage, rice and beans and a drink all for $10. The portion size was not lacking at all. I also got a side of Mac n cheese for $3. All my food was still very warm when I got home. That brown stew chicken is Thee Bomb. Very flavorful and fall off the bone. The plantains were some of the best I’ve had. I really enjoyed the cabbage. Many places I’ve had the cabbage usually be bland, this cabbage had flava. The rice and peas were plentiful and good also. The Mac and cheese was pretty good. Everything was 5 stars for me prices, portion, taste, freshness, the service, and although it’s not a sit in restaurant the place was clean and welcoming inside. Probably should have taken pic of food before I ate, but this was my leftovers after dinner which will be another meal for lunch or dinner tomorrow.
I was excited to try this place and It was disappointing. My order was $60+ We wanted to try a little of it all! We ordered the Curry Shrimp, Jerk Shrimp, Brown Stewed Salmon and the Whole Fried Snapper. The curry flavor was good.. not a traditional Jamaican curry but a good flavor. The Salmon was over cooked and you could tell it was previously frozen. The jerk shrimp was definitely Not Jerk. I was MOST Disappointed with the Fried Snapper. It was fried in old dirty grease . The inside of my fish was BURNT and fill with burnt black crumbs. Please do better. On a positive note,The young lady at the counter was wonderful.
The name of the restaurant reflects the food and customer service. They package the food like a hog trough. The curry chicken, cabbage and plantains sit on top of a bed of rice. Everything is soggy. The curry chicken is dry. The cabbage taste like beans and rice. The guy plantains taste like beans and rice. The manager/owner packed my wife box the same hours old plain chicken wings that were soggy as well just plain nasty. When I went back he was very unwilling to make it right. Jamaican garage for the backyard pigs not for the $22 I spent stay away from this dump. They deserve a 0 star rating. And has the nerve to have a sign up talking about how customer service is priority. I was there around 7:15pm and have proof but his excuse was I came late and should not complain about what he gave me. Easy fix if you are about what you say you are. But hey it’s all good.
My 1st time eating here & the Brown stew chicken was good, their prices are very reasonable for the amout of food they give you.
Its delicious. My only complaints are that my utensils where not in my order this time, my drink of choice is never in my order (it's always a different drink), and the baked mac and cheese always seems to be scraped from the bottom of the pan (never the fresh layer from the top). Aside from these three things, This is easily one of my favorite places to eat here in Charlotte.
First time ordering here (through Postmates). Chicken stew/ rice & peas, cabbage, plantains. Rice/ stew portion was huge, all tasted so great, square boxes were perfect for takeout & traveled well. Will def order again.
Food was wonderful as always and I always get my money worth. I ordered a coconut curry shrimp dinner which turned out to be dinner and next day lunch. I also had the Mambo wings...Delicious!!!!
The different online menus are not all the same. I spoke with Destiny about a delivery order that came Postmates and was wrong. The situation was confusing and should have been remedied per Destiny’s word. I never got a call or credit.The woman I spoke to before Destiny was kinda rude and impatient, not her best employee. I am at best disappointed over $5.00 and will NEVER choose to order food here again.
The cashier is nice and friendly. She's been very helpful. The food was really good, I've been here 3 times already and it's been on point every time so far.
I ordered plain salmon with rice for my son, received a salmon in brown sauce with soggy fries (look at picture) He would not eat it. Ordered Escovitch snapper which was supposed to come with cabbage no cabbage a ton of sliced onions. Ordered jerk shrimp and a large Mac & cheese never received it. When I called the restaurant she said to come pick it up. I had to laugh. Half my order was missing and what I did get was wrong. I waited an hour to get the food, then spent 20 minutes for Ubereats to start the refund process, and then had to reorder from another restaurant, after 2 hours of waiting for nothing my family was hangry. I tried the snapper was not impressed it was more spicy than flavorful, and again no cabbage! Rice and beans were good, that’s the only thing I had for dinner from the $75 I placed.
