I bit into an improper hush puppy, closed my eyes, and said, "I love the South." We shared the twice-baked jalapeno appetizer and the improper charcuterie tray. Every bite was mouth-watering. The portions were so generous that we had leftovers for another meal. The cucumber melon and raspberry mules were also delicious. Our waitress, Kim, was delightful.
Traveling thru Charlotte and the hotel recommended The Improper Pig. Great choice from the time we walked in until we left the service was amazing, our server was Haley W. She was phenomenal. The food was Great!!!!If you have one near you visit…..I had the Salmon Blt with white American instead of the pimento cheese added mayo and was in food Heaven along with sweet potato fries!!!
I had a late lunch at the Improper Pig in Rea Farms. I ordered a raspberry Mule and the Sliders. The menu described the sliders as "CHOW BAO SLIDERS, 3 steamed Bao Buns stuffed with smoked pulled pork, smoked pulled chicken, smoked chopped brisket, or smoked tofu. Topped with Asian slaw, & Spicy Hoisin sauce. Served with 1 house side. I ordered 1 of each and the bartender said it came with Asian Slaw along with 1 side which I ordered the sweet potato fries. I was looking forward to the slaw but the bartender said the sliders already came with slaw and confirmed I did not want another order of slaw. The Bao Buns tasted like raw dough and the slaw on the sliders did not consist of cabbage but wilted lettuce. There are lots of restaurants that make slaw with cabbage not wilted lettuce so I won't be back
Terrible experience! We decided to give this place a try for the first time after discussing our choices in the Rea Farms shopping center. Unfortunately it will be our last. Things started off great. Beautiful day, great table outside and then it went down hill from there. Our server started out great then disappeared. Our food is finally brought to the table after a long wait by someone else’s delivering the food, fine. Food is good but I’m missing my side. Since I can’t find a server I go inside to ask someone only to find out that our first server is also the bartender. The bar is full so now I understand why he never returned. I ask about the side and was told it will delivered shortly, cool. While I’m at the bar I order a second round of drinks. Long story short, side never comes, drinks never come, eventually we give up. I go inside, ask for the check and we leave never to return again! Terrible service.
Exceeded all expectations. We were recommended to try the pork rolls, which will knock your socks off, and twice baked jalapeños for starters. This is definitely how to begin. Along with some delicious margaritas. I started with the classic and then the pomegranate and all I can say is, yum, yum, yum. I opted for a BBQ salad, and it was fresh, supersized, and the BBQ tender and flavorful. Other entrees at my table looked so appealing and I was able to take a few bites, and will definitely return to try more. Our waitress, Casey, was an absolute gem. Her kind and friendly service made us feel so welcomed. Their lovely manager, Tillie, stopped by to make sure everything was good, and she made us feel right at home. Yes, the location is clean, bright, and modern. And the food and drinks are mouth-watering and satisfying. But it's the people that make a great place into an unforgettable one. Thank you Casey and Tillie for helping make dining at The Improper Pig a highlight of our trip to Charlotte.
We went here for lunch and it was AMAZING! I enjoyed everything! We had Hush Puppies and Jalapeño poppers for starters and it was delicious! I had impoper pig platter which is the best deal since you could pick and choose 2 kinds of meat and sides! The brisket was really nice and tender, and I really enjoyed my waffle-cut sweet potato fries too! The cocktails were also good! Our server was nice and friendly and great service overall. Can’t wait to go back here!
We ate at the Improper Pig restaurant in Charlotte before attending the journey/Toto concert. We both had the improper charcuterie plate with pork egg rolls. The food was off the chain. Our waiter, Shane, did an excellent job. His suggestions were spot-on and he was very attentive. If you love Hickory Smoked Meats than this place is for you. You won't be disappointed.
It was our first time trying this BBQ gem last night, and we loved it! From friendly & quick service to delicious food, this is the latest addition to our list of repeat business! Highlights of ambiance are cleanliness, bright and spaced out decor. The food, well I regret not taking pics of our table but the brisket, chicken, pork, hush puppies, Cole slaw, collards, and sweet potato fries were excellent - well rounded flavors, compliments of the hickory smoke! Along with triple D's Guy Fieri, we highly recommend!! Bonus: expansive outside dining area. Special thanks to Casey & Mgr Michael :) very well done!
Place is good, great lunch service. Did the bao tacos, brisket and pulled pork were legit. Pass on the chicken, just not memorable. Great asain slaw on the bao buns. Awesome beer batter fries, great way to enjoy all the bbq sauces, Mary B's was a great sauce, shocker in NC, hats off!
Really nice place... neat seating, etc. The service was very good, the food was very good. I would consider this an upscale BBQ place - comparable to Midtown Smokehouse or Macs. In that category - this place MIGHT be the best. The pulled pork was very good, maybe some of the best brisket I've had anywhere - fork tender and well smoked. Several different sauces to fit your favorite flavor - and a couple of those were really good. Sides were good. This isn't a "classic" BBQ joint - but doesn't pretend to be. For that 'upscale BBQ' experience - worth the trip
