I really want to give this place 5 stars; however the food quality is hit or miss and I absolutely love authentic African food. The Moi Moi (grounded and seasoned to perfection black-eyed peas) is my absolute favorite thing to get here. When it comes to the chicken- it has never seemed like fresh chicken as it is always fried extremely hard and then sauced, it seems like day old chicken. The jollof rice is good; however I wish that they would make a milder version so those who can’t tolerate spice that well can enjoy or at least try it out too.Everything looks delicious from the photo but the chicken was a miss. The moi moi didn’t disappoint.Update in response: I’ve actually frequented several African restaurants and this restaurant several times and depending on time of day of arrival the food consistency differs. I wouldn’t have left a review stating my thoughts if I had only visited once or twice. African food is one of my absolute favorites as it intertwines closely with Gullah cuisine. I’m not saying based on this review that I’ll never visit again, it’s just the quality has not been consistent on the times that I’ve been. Again the Moi Moi, has never disappointed me.
Food was so good I got the egusi soup with beef I just wish it came with a bigger portion maybe just one more peace of meat I recommend this place for the taste of there food but if your really hungry you might wanna go somewhere else
I was so disappointed with my order. I got egusi with 2 meats. I must say it was the smallest portion on food and it was extremely over priced. I won't be coming back. Per your response. I DID only get 2 pieces of meat. Maybe the woman that served me did not know that. The egusi was in the larger part and one piece of beef and what I believe was chicken, both in red sauces were in the smaller portions of the to go box. And I got fufu. Although I went a month ago I don't believe prices on a chunk of beef and what may have been a chicken thigh is worth paying over $17. Sorry not sorry
Id give this place nagative stars if I could. If your establishment doesnt have a working restroom you shouldnt be open per health code. Hardest chicken and watered down egusi. Its Potatoe Fufu? I could of mashed potatoes at home. $25 down the drain. I just threw it away. I would usually salvage what I can for my dogs to enjoy but they deserve better.
The cassava leaf was extremely salty, to salty to eat??. The lady taking my order was very kind & helpful. The moi-moi, plantains, and eugusi was delightfully tasty. The portions are very small with little meat. I most likely wouldn't return. IT'S A "NO" for me!
Omg the best Nigerian food. I drive 3 hrs twice a month to get some fufu and egusi soup and collard soup with beef. The staff is so nice and they can get my business anytime
Truthfully, I give 4 stars due to the food being AMAZING and customer service being ehh ok. This was our first time eating fufu & egusi soup. Figured we’d try it for the New Year! I called our order in, she said it’llbe 30 minutes. which is perfect because i’m only 30minutes away. We get there super excited to get our food and run back home to try it! The Lady was on the phone for about 6-7 minutes giving us no type of acknowledgment!! I thought that was a bit off but we were excited so we looked passed it. Then she began to make our plates. it’s going on 10 minutes now *this is why i called it in* . She then gets ready to swipe my card. I kindly tried to hand it to her but she proceeded to say in a non-customer service way ,“When I am ready ?”, Then took my card right after saying that. If I’m paying close to $50 for some food I’ve never had before at a place I’ve never been before I expect the customer service to match the amazing food. I would go back for the food. But next time I hope the atmosphere is more welcoming,
I always come here for the egusi soup which is amazing, but today I decided to try something different. I got the okra soup with beef and fufu, best okra soup ever!! I love this place so much everytime I go the lady is always so sweet. Will definitely be back very soon probably next week Lol.
