Sweet Lew's did not disappoint. While visiting my BFF, I decided this trip I wanted N.C Barbecue. After searching & comparing reviews we decided to try Sweet Lew's and it did not disappoint. We both had "The Sampler." I'm not a beef eater. Although, I found the brisket a tad bit dry, when drizzled with Sweet Lew's Brisket Sauce it made it enjoyable. The ribs were juicy and cooked to perfection. I tried my friends Red Coleslaw, not knowing what to expect, was the bomb. The meat was dry-rubbed with sides of Barbecue Sauce, which were vinegar base, but not overwhelming so. Overall, we really enjoyed our meals, so much that I purchased a chicken dinner to go for the next day and look forward to returning.
Looking for something different and came across Lew's on the way somewhere else. Had the Sampler platter and if I had More room in my belly I would have eaten everything. Great service. Closest thing I been to a down home BBQ in 21 years in Charlotte. Will be taking all family members who visit. Them Ribs and Mac n Cheese tho..
Great setup with better food. In town from Memphis, and this place did not disappoint. We tried it all and felt the love today. Meats were the highlights although the sides are excellent and would be worth coming in for a veggie plate alone. Thanks for showing a couple of Memphis guys around the smoker too. I can’t wait to get back the next time I’m in town.
Ordered the sampler with baked beans and mac/cheese. The rib was cooked well, moist. The brisket was a tad bit undercooked, the beans were hard and definitely undercooked. The pork was cooked well. Mac/cheese was alright and hush puppies were good. Out of the 4 sauces the rib and brisket sauces were the best.I enjoyed the interior and service was good. I can't recommend this place at the moment, since there is better options very close by (Midwood Smokehouse).
Flavor of the food was horrible! All of the meat tasted exactly the same, like sausage. Waste of $100!
If you are looking for true craft Carolina BBQ this IS your place!! Be sure to order the buffet plate so you get a good portion of their brisket, pork, turkey, ribs and house made sausage. The brisket, turkey and sausage were some of the best I have ever had, and I am super critical of my BBQ. The buffet plate comes with two sides and a dessert. Both the banana pudding and the dirt pie are out of this world! Super nice people who are passionate about what they are doing. Get there early!
Absolutely incredible. We got the brisket with mustard sauce, pasta salad, and house pickles. Everything was phenomenal - a must visit spot in charlotte!
I hate to be one to complain but it’s gone downhill. They were out of ribs and chicken…cool. I ordered the Turkey plate with an extra side of hush puppies. The puppies were burnt, the Mac and cheese barely had cheese and the collards were over cooked and under seasoned. The sauces have also changed. All of them have an overbearing vinegar taste now. It was once so good…not sure what happened.
Sampler plate was good, the standout for me was brisket while I could probably do without the pulled pork. Collard greens were delicious while the mac and cheese was just okay. Hush puppies were hot and crisp. The mustard sauce was especially good. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, staff seemed disinterested though it wasn't busy for dinner yet.
Drove to Charlotte from Louisville, KY in support of a dear friend for the, " 2022 Get Your Rear in Gear", Colon Cancer Coalition Event. She passed by Sweet Lew's BBQ during her walk and suggested that we give it a try. What a wonderful discovery! I had the Sweet Lew Sampler, brisket, pork, and ribs with collard greens, and mac and cheese. Oh, the meat on the ribs was so tender and delicious. The brisket melted in my mouth. Both meats were seasoned to perfection so for me no sauce was necessary. I'm not a big fan of pulled pork but my friends enjoyed. The sides were cooked southern style just the way I like!!! Excellent.
