Soul Central on Tryon St is becoming so RAGGEDY. One, the collard greens be huge nasty, unflavored leaves when they do have them. They are closed on Saturday which makes no sense. Then on Sunday at 2pm, 7hours before they close, they are out of collard greens. My family used to eat here every weekend but the food started to slack, so we stopped eating here for months. This is the first Sunday we decided to eat here in months and they were out of collards greens at 2pm. They want you to pay full price for a meal but don’t have all the options to make the meal you want. We will be finding a new soul food spot.
My fault for not doing the research. Soul Central Soul food. I believe in supporting black businesses. N Tryon location when we pulled up the parking lot lacked cars. Hmmm. Walk in, nobody black behind counter and register. Hmmm. I turn to the brothers behind me who already ordered. They said the food was aight. We order. Items come off a hot bar. Seasoning was bland. Meatloaf not bad but not good. Yams and Mac were super average. Got me. Good luck.
I just had Soul Central...and Whew...it's a Never again for me. I ordered the Fried Pork Chops, Mac and Cheese and Collards with Cornbread. The Mac and Cheese was bitter/tangy, almost like the pit vinegar in it or it was spoiled. The greens had NO FLAVOR at all. I literally could not even break the Cornbread in half, that's how old and stale it was. My pork Chops were good and well seasoned. So, that's that!
We went in but didn't stay and order. Taste buds was set on something else. I gave a 3 star due to friends recommending.
This is horrible! The black-eyed peas taste like adobo seasoning is in them. Menu is disappointing.Just don't call this soul food! It is something different. Somebody better get Ms. Jenkins in here quick!

Tried to call in an order 20 minutes prior to them closing and they won't answer the phone. I was en route to the restaurant! Food is delicious, but this type of customer service makes me never return to a place. I literally eat here every day! Im so disappointed! If the food wasn't good I'd rate one star because this really messed me up. I was planning to have this all day!!! I'm so disappointed in yall!
First time going from Salisbury after my daughter gave her recommendations, I had the hamburger steak over rice, macaroni and cheese and cabbage….EVERYTHING WAS EVERYTHING!! Good food. I will be back!!
Love this place! So glad it opened up near my job, great spot for lunch or to grab dinner for later. Food is always fresh, hot and delicious. I haven’t had one bad thing yet on the menu
Food is good. I had the smothered porkchop over rice with sweet potatoes and macaroni and cheese.
