Steak House Salad

Stopped in here very randomly as I believe this was previously a Hickory Tavern, but we decided to give it a try once we realized it had changed. From the moment we walked in, it was not the upscale place they would have you believe. The first thing we noticed were the dirty floors and tables. Our server was very nice but did not seem experienced at all and would disappear for a long time. My friend and I both ordered Caesar salads, but she added steak to hers. Hers came out as a huge dinner salad, while I got a side salad at best, but we were charged the same amount. The salad was decent, however her steak was mushy to the point she couldn't eat it. My side of fries was cold and half cooked. The only pro was that the ranch dressing was really good. After waiting about 20 minutes to cash out, we weren't even given pens to sign our checks with and the server disappeared again. Absolutely would never go back or recommend.

The floors were dirty with crumbs and food, the tables were sticky and the food was less than mediocre. I ordered the American Wagyu Sirloin and it wasn't cooked to the right temperature which for me is fine because I like both Medium Rare/Rare but the steak was tasteless like it was at expiration date. Even with no seasoning, this steak should have been tender and flavorful. I was very disappointed especially because of the price. You can't give zero stars so it gets 1 star because the manager got up from his seat at the bar to say hi. I was really hoping for a good restaurant at this location since Hickory Tavern closed. Maybe next time.

I'm saddened to write this because I was really looking forward to a decent steak and some jazz music, however, we did not have a great experience. The server was okay, and the drinks were the only good thing about this place. We went because they advertised a jazz night, but we went from 7pm-815ish and the musician never played. My bf ordered the seafood pasta, which was on the menu with shrimp, salmon, and scallops. However, there were no scallops, and instead, the kitchen put calamari. There was zero communication with is that they were out of scallops and would replace them with calamari. No question if it was okay, if he was allergic, or if he wanted to change his mind. My steak was cooked great but had no seasoning, but my real issue was my baked potato. It was ice cold with a STICK of butter in the middle. I asked to have it microwaved to melt the butter, but instead, they brought me a third potato, which was also cold with another stick of butter. Lastly, the manager who was walking around talking to everyone purposely ignored us when we clearly were unhappy. We asked for the manager to come over and got the bartender instead.... he was nice and apologized; we definitely appreciated him. The manager walking the floor came over after we were ready to pay to ask if we were no longer staying for music. We will not be back. Nor would I suggest this place to anyone else I know.

We chose this restaurant to celebrate my daughter's birthday; we made reservations, but the place was almost empty, we were seated, and our waiter came and gave us menus; we ordered Calamari as an appetizer, it reached 30 mins later, and it was very salty. The waiter was new and green, so we didn't make a fuss; I ordered a mango martini, it came about 15 mins later, and if there was mango in it, I could not tell. The food wasn't that great; I had lobsters, seafood, pasta, and the pasta sauce was bland and had no flavor; I ate the lobster, and since there was no bread, it's all I ate. The big issue was the steaks, my daughter and her friend had the petit filet, which they said was good; my husband ordered a 24oz porterhouse steak, and here is the issue, we got a T-bone instead of a Porterhouse. The waiter initially said there were no porterhouse steaks left, the manager stepped in and said, "we have a whole box of them in the freezer," It was a T-bone, but my husband did not want to ruin our daughters birthday, so he didn't do anything, and I guess the manager thought what a bunch of dummies...We paid $48 for a 24 oz Porterhouse only to get an 8 oz T-bone. So if anyone goes to Sofie Steakhouse ..this is what a Porterhouse looks like (see below). The difference, of course, is price, and Porterhouse steaks are cut from the rear end of the short loin and include more tender loin steak, along with (on the other side of the bone) a large strip steak. T-bone steaks are cut closer to the front and contain a smaller tenderloin section. Needless to say, I won't be going back!

I wanted to try this place because it looked nice from the outside. The inside is a different place. The floors were dirty. We were greeted and looked at crazy by saying I had a reservation. When we went to be seated, they tried to see us at a table that needed to be swept and had a used napkin underneath. We asked for those things to be moved, and several people were confused at the request. We finally was able to sit after standing up awkwardly; nobody came to our table. Nobody acknowledged us or said anything. Somebody came in after we did, and they got service and drinks. We left and won't ever come back here. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Driving in from a 12 hour road trip from Miami, FL to Charlotte, NC and starving, we are thankful to have found Sophie's Steakhouse. They were very welcoming at 10pm, knowing they were closing at 11pm. The service was amazing. Food was hot and awesome, great for groups. Three month ago they under went new management. I don't know how was before, but this is highly recommended. Will definitely come again if I am in the area.

Enjoyed the space, initially got some spinach artichoke dip.. the chips were awful had a funny taste like they were stale or something and the dip was missing flavor. Sent that back and got a burger and it was excellent. Nice for what is is.. bar food and TV screens and catching up with friends.. would give it 3.5 stars but Google doesn't let you.. would have to go again and try something else too give it more. Ok enough that I'd try again.

PLEASE DON'T BRING ME MY BILL IF YOU DIDNT ASK IF I WAS READY FOR IT OR IF YOU CLEARLY SEE ME STILL EATING...SHE STILL CAME BACK WITH THE BILL A 2ND TIME WITHOUT ASKING WHICH PROMPT ME TO ASK HER, "HOW DO YOU KNOW IM NOT GOING TO ORDER ANYTHING ELSE?" AS A MATTER OF FACT I WASNT EVEN DONE YET AND ORDERED SOMETHING ELSE.Pros:spacious restaurant, lots of TV, fried shrimp, French fries, ranch dressingCons:TV commercials are played during game breaks at an UNBEARABLE LOUD VOLUME, spinach dip taste like a side of creamed spinach, wings fried way to hardThis is a bar regardless of how you try to market it. Menu is very small and the selection doesn't really go together.OWNER WALKS AROUND ALL NIGHT AND DOESN'T SMILE OR SPEAK TO THE CUSTOMERS, MOST RESTAURANT MGRS STOP AND ASK HOW IS THE FOOD AND SERVICE. THIS PLACE WILL NOT BE OPEN LONG.

Great spot for lunch and a beer, wings and a game, or date night for an upscale date night. Family owned by great people. Staff is friendly and attentive.

This place is big they needed to sweep or vacuum the floors. Looks like a band was setting up. Calamari wasn't fresh everything came out hot. My shrimp salad was good. The wings was cool the soup wasn't to good. Not my first choice to run to. Might go back to listen to the band, order a salad & have a drink.
