Our first time here, celebrating our friend's birthday. Appears to have only been 1 server and he was not handling it well with our party of 7, a party of 4, and several 2 and 3 tops. The drinks were good even though it took a long time to get them. Actually everything was good and everything took a long time to get, including water. I can say with confidence that my tyropita handpie was delicious. The birthday girl order one of each of the handpies to share with the table. Everyone seemed to enjoy them. It was really warm inside the restaurant, we even had to move a swiveling fan closer to our table. I got lightheaded from the warmth and maybe a little something in my Papa Anana. I couldn't enjoy my Zucchini and Feta fritters...maybe another time. Pretty much wasted $40. We were not visited by a manager except to help with getting our drink orders or at least I think he was the manager as I saw him sitting in the office on the way to the gender neutral bathroom and then later when he was talking with our server right before he stepped outside for a few moments for a break. Oh and we had to split the check ourselves, having to put a number or symbol by what belonged to you.
I remember when this place started as Kiki, the whole experience was great every time I visited (went there 3 times). After a few months without going there, I decided to pay a visit last night (Saturday, April 30th) and the whole experience was so mediocre, starting from the rude hostess, to getting the wrong orders over and over and the dishes were so bland and tasteless. The only item that we truly liked was the pork skewers, which were so amazing, but the shrimp ceviche was not prepared the way a ceviche should be prepared, plus it was just so bland. The broccoli salad was too sweet and it honestly looked and felt like chewed broccoli. The wait time for my drinks and dishes were too long and when we would finally get our appetizers, we would have to wait another long period of time to just get some silverware and sharing plates. We finally gave up and decided to not order our main courses, neither finish our bottle of wine and just asked for the check, and to our surprise, we had to wait another long period of time to leave, first because the server took long to bring the check and second because we got charged for items we didn't order so we had to wait even longer to have the check corrected. Never going back there again.
Why do I feel like I want to be corny and bring my sister here the next time she is in town lol ? The restaurant Sister is serving up all the goodies for brunch, lunch & dinner . Formally Ki Ki bistro which I have visited numerous times . Sister has the same owners as Sol Gastro lounge which is located right above so I already knew it had to be more than great ! Super modern and sleek inside and when you go you must check out the secret tattoo speak easy room downstairs as well.So I have been here for brunch and lunch and every time they nailed it from customer service, and the food being amazing each and every time. The French toast served there is a dream come true and a must order when visiting for brunch . Some of my favorite lunch items here hands down are the olive oil fries, lamb skewers & burgers along with the Zucchini & feta fritters to name a few.If you decide to check this place out and it’s a nice day outside take a look at rooftop area which I don’t think alot of people are aware it exist . I’m definitely coming back to try dinner .
We ordered several things off the menu but they were sold out by 2 pm. Both me and my friend had to choose something else, and they brought everyone's food but my friend abd when we would flag down the waiter, he would say he didn't forget us but when he finally showed up to talk to us everyone else was done and he gave just gave us a chocolate cake and said that they prepared the ceviche wrong and it was not available. By the time he told us, everyone was ready to go and he didn't offer the chance for her to choose something else. The only highlight was the fries and the only reason they get 2 stars.
We went to sister to celebrate my new job! The vibe was perfect We sat on the couches in the front, which elevated the experience. We enjoyed watching the hustle of Plaza Midwood and a beautiful skyline view of Charlotte. The lamb chop pops were good, but I’m not sure if they were $33 good. I’m certainly happy that I tried them, but not sure that I would get them again. Also pictured here is the Shrimp Saganaki which was friggggin amazing!
Unfortunately I can’t even review the food or drinks. I booked a reservation for tonight, and we sat for 25 minutes before flagging down a server for water. We waited a total of 55 minutes before leaving because we still didn’t have our cocktails. The server failed to acknowledge us or provide an update on the status of our drinks after walking by 5+ times. It was a standard Friday night, not overly busy, but a complete disaster. We had high hopes because we love Soul, but would certainly not recommend.
Today is my 2 year anniversary with my girlfriend. She loves Soul Gastro and I thought this would be of the same caliber. Unfortunately I was sorely mistaken and knew this from the moment we walked in. Greeted with a disinterested attitude by the front of house to our request of alternate seating (reserved). We waited 25 minutes before I could ask for water and then a further 30 minutes before we got up and left. Friday nights should be fun, but this place seems to have staff who would prefer a night off. Or even be upstairs having a great meal. ?
The food was amazing! Loved the winter halloumi salad, gigantes, flatbread, and olive oil fries. Our drinks were also delicious and well balanced. Can't wait to go back.
Quaint spot in the Plaza Midwood area of town. I was very pleasantly surprised at the food. The shrimp ceviche and zucchini fritters were the perfect light bites for lunch. Pretty good service and nice vibe. Will definitely go back soon
The sound system is nicely overhead so you can easily listen and still have a lovely conversation. The coffee, music and pastries went very well together.
