I tried this place because I didn’t realize my normal African restaurant that I pickup from was closed on Sundays. We were in the mood for it so looked for the next closest place with decent reviews. I first want to say the food is just ok. I thought I was ordering palm butter soup as always but I ordered palm but soup and it must not be the same thing. This soup is very watery with one piece of beef and a chicken leg in it. Not at all impressed by it. My uncle stated the cassava leaf was ok. Secondly, I am a foodie and pay for food but why was this exact order and what I order at Zowee’s African restaurant $21 more. I have been eating African food 20+ years and have never seen a restaurant charge extra for rice. $7.00 for 2 containers of rice to be exact. That’s like going to a Chinese restaurant or Mexican place and paying for rice. My order at Zowee’s is 2 palm butters with chicken and smoked Turkey and the flavors are so good, that comes with rice, cassava leaf and fufu and the order is $35 with tax. This was the same order but $56??.Thirdly, the lady behind the counter handed me my order but it looked a little skimpy and when I got to the car, I checked and she had just given me the rice I paid for and fufu but not the actual meals. I had gone back in and she apologized but had I been a person that did not check and had gotten all of the way home, then I would have been upset. I write this to say, the food is just ok and a lot more cost for nothing special. I will be sure to stick with my place except on Sunday. I will not return here.
Well to start the place was clean nice sitting area it had nice TV so you can watch and wait for your food or eat and watch TV if you choose. The cashier person that took my order he was very nice and he had an idea that I may have been experiencing African cuisine for the first time, so he was kind. However, the food I ordered was cow foot, egusi soup and spring rolls. Spring rolls is awesome spring rolls can't go wrong with spring rolls as far as the African food itself, oh yeah, I ordered Foo Foo as well it was tasty I don't hate it. Yes, I would try it again probably a different African style you know or whatever but I will try again.
The suya was delicious. The rice and stew was ok, it only has chicken thighs in it and wasn't that spicy
The food was ok, I was expecting the stew to have beef but it's just chicken. The suya hit the spot and it was spicy
So I placed an online order for CASSAVA upon arrival for pick up order I walked in just kept standing there order the guy never acknowledged I was customer he just kept walking pass me serving food to other customer so I figured maybe it’s low staff so I spoke up like hey I’m here to pick up my order of course looking at my container you think it’s cassava but NO POTATO GREENS. Could’ve been a mistake or they were out of what I ordered and tried to disguise it for something else. And the chicken in it is not fresh it’s old!
The absolute best food ever! I haven't had meat in 5 years bc I don't trust it. Today I devoured goat, chicken, and, beef. The ginger beer is sweet and spicy. The plantains are phenomenal.
Went here to try fufu since most locations are sold out.Honestly, it was really good and well prepared didn't take to long but some of the items were out of stock.
I love eating here!! Food is very delicious and fresh! Having an A rating is also a plus, and staff is always welcoming.
I had recently moved from New York to North Carolina and was looking for a good African restaurant in the Charlotte area. I came across Royal African Cuisine and the moment I entered I was greeted warmly and with a smile. The food are absolutely delicious and it will keep you coming back for more like it did me. I absolutely love this place, and anyone can enjoy the menu it offers!
I had several different orders from Royal African Cuisine and I got to say, the food was great. I ordered fufu, banku, okra soup, palmnut soup, waakey. I got to say is it was all great! The atmosphere was nice! Definitely go and check them out.
