Stumbled across Prime Fish one night when craving late night sushi, and was pleasantly surprised to see them open until 11pm.I have ordered takeout twice, and finally made it for a sit down meal after a long day of traveling. The fish was fresh and the rolls were creative and unique. After a couple of rounds, I let the staff choose my final round of "off menu" creations which did not disappoint.I'm looking forward to going back again and trying more of their creations.
Careful - super small portion size!!We went for lunch today. This place looks like fast food place but charges like higher end sushi places. We ordered soft shell crab, smoked duck, sashimi tasting menu, uni (2 pieces), and one miso soup. The bill before tip came out to be $110+, wow! The sashimi comes in two pieces of each fish, 16 pieces total, but are tiny slices. I would say this $40 plate is good for just one person. And two pieces of uni is $25!? I was hoping it’s some super fresh amazing uni. Nope. Won’t go again. South Charlotte has way more better sushi places.
Probably the best sushi in Charlotte but you will pay for it. Alot of great options and really good flavor. Fresh real Wasabi and very good spice on the spicy tuna roll and perfect aoili on the poke bowl. I expected more truffle flavor on the truffle salmon so next time I will go back to the option with the truffle oil as it was very flavorful. Look forward to trying more options like the tuna tartar.
The best sushi I've had in the US outside of NYC or LA and it's equally great. Incredible sake menu, as well.
We love sushi & sake. Thought we would try this place even though it's a little far from home. Sake tasted watered down..and all we ordered was unagi nigiri as everything was pretty expensive. Sadly - unagi was not cooked well, and was fishy. Everything was disappointing. Understanding that this is covid times, wasn't going to mention the paper plates....but the place is way too expensive for what we got.Headed back down the road to our local regular haunt and filled our bellies.
I’m shocked by the one star review below mine - yet the persons review of Applebees and other chain restaurants are 5 stars. For anyone reading, PLEASE do not let any negative review dissuade you.I am a die hard fan of Prime Fish; I eat there twice a week. I’ve lived and traveled everywhere from Boston to Paris to LA to Hong Kong and I think Prime Fish does an AMAZING job. Without a doubt, the best sushi in Charlotte. The fish is always super fresh, and they offer some really creative, high-end dishes. On top of all that, the people who work there are SO NICE. I came in and from day 1, they treated me like family. The only two negative things that I could see people saying are that the place is small and the plates are an eco friendly disposable bamboo. Neither of these bother me - I take a busy restaurant as a great sign, and the bamboo plates impact me in zero way. If anything, it lets the restaurant focus on the food quality rather than washing dishes. In no way though can you knock the quality of the fish here. And on weekends they do AMAZING specials, like live scallop, live California Uni, and fish flown in fresh from Japan. As for the sake, they have a HUGE offering from entry level to very high end. Some are so smooth they almost taste like water, but I promise it isn’t watered down. Split a bottle between two people and you might not be driving home ?.Certain dishes are definitely priced higher than the competition, but the quality 100% reflects that. I’m more than happy to pay for the quality. And if there’s a time when budget is tight - I’m going for lunch because the lunch deals are great! It’s $6 for rolls like yellowtail scallion or spicy tuna. I can’t even get grocery store sushi that cheap, let alone sushi this great of quality. If you fall in love with this place like I have, their omakase is a wonderful experience as well. Certainly a premium, as all great omakase are, but well worth the splurge - especially to celebrate a special occasion.Anyways, that’s my two cents. I hope you find this helpful! Hands down one of my favorite sushi places in Charlotte. Small nice environment where they know their sushi. Salmon belly is the best!
Chef Robin, Windy and the entire staff are doing things right. Freshest, best quality sushi in Charlotte. Always a great experience.
One of the top sushi place in town, the fish is so fresh and on the weekend they have speical fish that are flown in. You have to try the omasake dinner , will be one of your best dinner ever .
Went for a quick lunch date with my daughter. The service was really fast and friendly. We sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed watching our rolls being assembled. It looked like there were tables around the back. The three rolls we got were amazing, the flavors and textures were perfectly balanced. The fish and crab were fresh and delicious. Had a great experience!
