Foods is good but I just paid $15 for a chicken cutlet sandwich. Way overpriced I don’t even think they charge these prices in Manhattan. The owner should go back to NY. Plus they don’t even have Kaiser Rolls w/ poppy seeds.

Check your order before you leave, do not order delivery here, they stay messing up orders and forgetting items. Good bagels but they’re not very good if you have to drive back to the store and then home for the second time before eating them…

I want to start off with thanking the two young ladies at the front for helping my husband and I. That pepperoni, ham and cheese pasta was so good, a little to vinegary but we loved it still! Service was great and the food as well! We will be going again.

This is the worst bagel place I’ve been to in any city ever… This is based on multiple experiences over the last 2 years. Today I ordered a bagel online for pickup. I had a 25 minute pick up time so I arrived 35 minutes after I ordered. When I got there the order was not on the shelf so I gave them an additional 10 minutes before asking the counter. After 45 minutes I went up to the counter and asked for an update on our order and the staff member told me they were “just” about to call because they were out of everything bagels and hadn’t started making the bagels yet. The staff member was unapologetic and rude. I waited another 10 min and finally got my bagel an hour after ordering at not a busy time. Not to mention our bagels were not made correctly. So poppy’s didn’t have the decency to even consider calling until 45 MINUTES after ordering. I understand a business or employee can have a bad day, but I have had a bad experience every single time I’ve gone there in the past 2 years. Based off other reviews, people really enjoy the bagels but customer service is just as important. Poppy’s needs to be held accountable for their continuous bad service and make changes ASAP. I will never return.

Poppys was known for a long time as the best bagel spot in Charlotte. The only bagels that somewhat resemble NY. The place has quickly gone down hill. Nobody seems to care about the quality of food or service in Poppys. Poppys is a dirty restaurant with poor service and bad food.

What a poorly run establishment. I paid $30 for 2 sandwiches that looked like I got them from a GAS STATION!! I ordered 2 bagel sandwiches, both on everything bagels. A Dagwood with toppings and a tuna salad with toppings. I then waited for around 10mins, watched multiple Uber eats and doordash orders get made and sitting for pick up. I also watched 6 customers order AND get their food too. I was asked by the same person who took my order what it was, and the name. I told them and they left. I continued to wait and watching a total of 11 employees roaming around, while also more Uber eats, doordash and more customers were served. I finally asked again about my order and it STILL wasn’t made. Finally, after a total of 20mins, another person walked over with a bag and called my name. I got home and unwrapped the Dagwood sandwich and it was basically some sad looking bread, not a bagel. It had 3 sorry pieces of cheese and around 5 limp and soggy pieces of meat. It literally looked like something you’d buy at 7-11. I drove from Plaza Midwood BACK to SouthEnd to return this trash and get my money back. When I returned for a refund, I showed the sandwiches to the manager and she was actually argumentative about them being made RIGHT!!! I said they were not right and that I wanted my money back and I would not return. She continued to argue with me about why the sandwiches were right and that I should have said something before I left with them. Definitely not worth a GAS STATION quality sandwich for $13 in SouthEnd. First and last time I’ll eat there.

In search of a business being run straight into the ground? How about a place with mediocre bagels at a premium price as if it's monopolizing bagels in Charlotte? Okay, okay, what if I revealed a secret of where to find a business that makes their customers pay for their past mistakes? Ladies and gentleman, welcome to Poppy's on South Blvd.On my first visit, there was about a dozen people working. I placed my order of one dozen bagels with the person running the register directly in front of the bagels. I waited about five non-exaggerated minutes for order, because it was not the register operator's job to fetch (to literally simply turn around 180°) and piece together the bagel order. No words.Visit #2 came with a pleasant suggestion from an employee that I could pre-order my bagels by phone or online. Legitimately, awesome. Thanks for the helpful tip. We're back on good terms.Visit #3 aka online pickup order #1 had about half of the Poppy's staffing as other visits (as recently seen at many other businesses, especially in the food industry), no problem... until the problem. My order was placed one hour in advance of my scheduled pick up time. It was not ridiculously busy, but I waited in-store for 25 minutes for my pre-order of bagels. When I asked about the status of my order, I was told that they'll get to it and call my name when it's ready. Back to strike #1.Visit #4 aka online pickup order #2 with a pivot from my previous online pre-order experience. This time, my online pre-order was placed 90 minutes in advance, I intentionally showed up 40 minutes after my scheduled pickup time, and my order was nowhere to be found. After I patiently waited for 15-20 minutes (because the staff was busier than usual and also down to maybe four employees maximum), I politely asked an employee about my order status and she couldn't locate my order nor the ticket for my order for her to build my order herself. After she asked other employees about the order, nobody knew anything, so she started to piece together my order, and then found my bag of bagels tossed behind the counter. The girl stated that it made no sense that nobody knew about the order, and it was found tucked in a hidden spot that wasn't even with the only other bagel orders that get placed behind the counter to indicate that a perishable/refrigerated product needs to be included in the order upon pickup. I did receive a sincere apology, and I did appreciate receiving the apology. Still, strike #2.Contemplated visit #5 until noticing the price of a dozen bagels went up by $6. No incremental increases to pricing, just a straight punch to the face in form of a 32% spike that was countered with the closing of my online pre-order window and the loss of my business going forward. Strike #3.The problem is that this will be compounded in so many ways since Poppy's provides bagels to many local businesses. Poppy's prices go up by 32%. Other businesses will then pass the increased cost of bagels onto their customers. Those businesses will likely see a decline in customers ordering bagel-centric items, which would lead to a reduction to their bagel orders from Poppy's. Ultimately ends with less business for Poppy's. I don't need a crystal ball to call this one.For more information, please visit Poppy's on South Blvd and go see the boothed laptopman. This two-star review was incredibly generous. I truly do not enjoy sharing negative (recurring) experiences, but I'm a man of the people. One positive to pull is that the location is conveniently found right by Lowe's for when you have to board up the windows on the permanent closing day. Best of luck.

What bagel place doesn’t slice bagels when requested?? Not only did they not slice my bagels, they left a nasty note on my receipt. Guess I’m headed to big chains!

I do try my best to support smaller businesses, but today I was disappointed by Poppy’s for a second time. I will say there was a gentleman there who made the situation right. I’m not sure if he was the manager or not. Im thankful that he did help me though but only after I asked for a refund. The deeper issue is, this problem I encountered twice should never have happened in the first place. Situation #1, I was refused bagel slicing. I was told you only slice bagels if I order ahead. I took my bagels to work and sliced them with a plastic knife because that’s all I had. Absolutely ridiculous. Situation #2, I pre-ordered this time and asked for my bagels to be sliced. My simple request of slicing 6 bagels was refused AGAIN but this time because “we don’t slice bagels on weekends.” I’m sorry, WHAT?! Slicing 6 bagels takes less time than crafting ONE breakfast sandwich on the menu. What if I had ordered each one with cream cheese? Do you serve it with the cream cheese on top since you don’t slice your bagels? I’m sorry but this is downright petty and obnoxious. A bagel place that refuses to slice their bagels…. Lord have mercy. Guess it’s big chain Panera for my bagels here on. They have a bagel slicing machine there and you don’t have to beg them for a sliced bagel.

A tad pricey, but very worth the price. Delicious bagel, excellent cream cheese flavor, very fast service.
