this was my first bagel since leaving NY over a year ago and it didn't disappoint. idk if the bagels are made in house, but my everything bagel was soft was a nice crust. All in I got a Pastrami egg amd cheese w/scallion CC to go and finished it before I got home (6 min away)
When you can actually get a bagel they’re pretty good, except for the everything which for some reason are twice as thick as the rest of the bagels and are impossible to fit in the toaster. The cinnamon raisin usually only have one or two raisins per bagel for some reason. They just cancelled my order after letting me wait for 30 min. Also on door dash the bagel with plain is more expensive than the bagel with flavored cream cheese (it opposite on Uber eats). You can only order cream cheese if you buy 14 bagels, and it’s a small tub, not enough for even half of the bagels. You cannot order two. Lastly, when ordering more than one bagel, the choices are not all listed under each bagel, so you might have to get 3 or 4 bagels of a flavor you don’t even want. The whole experience is below par and very frustrating,
Best Jewish deli that I've found in Charlotte. I buy scallion cc and whitefish salad and bagels from there. Not a 5 star as they're cutting back on the size of their bagels...bigger holes now?
I’ve always loved poppy’s Bagels But I think it is very rude to be closing down a restaurant (all inside tables and chairs up, mopping floors, grill closed down) an hour and 30 minutes before their posted closing time!!! I asked when they were closing and she said “today we close at 2 instead of 3” I am not sure why they were closing early but even so, they were packing up shop 30 min before the new closing time. It makes a customer feel very unwanted and uncomfortable when the kid mopping the floors was literally cleaning the floors all around me and then he got annoyed when I went to the fridge to get a drink (because he had to wait for me to finish). It was miserably hot sitting on the porch outside, also!!
Saw good reviews on Google, came to check it out! Good bagels, the bread was crispy on outside and soft inside. the place is a bit small so everyone waiting on their order has to kind of huddle together. We thought it was kind of weird and mean how the manager was bossing the employees around, which were mainly all teens. We sat down to eat when what seemed like an episode of Bad Girls Club broke out, and employees started arguing pretty loud.
This place used to be so amazing but it’s rapidly gone downhill. This is a picture of lunch time: out of bagels, out of chips, almost out of staff. Every single time I come here the prices have increased while the quality has gone downhill. When they get my order right (which is rare) it’s usually on a burnt bagel or a bagel that has no toppings. I reached out to them (as a loyal customer since they first opened) & no one even bothered to respond. Take your business to the Good Wurst instead & get 10x better food for half the price.
I've been searching for bagels that aren't just baked & found Poppy's. They boil & bake the bagels, doing it the right way. The bagels & cream cheese are fantastic. Customer service is excellent.
Went to poppy's last week for the first time and the bagels are amazing! Straight from New York! The staff were an absolute joy and so helpful. Will definitely be back again and again. You've made a regular out of me!
We absolutely love the bagels at Poppy’s. We know that the restaurant biz is tough right now but for the last 6 months every time we have ordered we have gotten the wrong order. We order online. It’s to the point where we now extensively check the order every time before we leave the restaurant and have to ask them to correct it before we go. This time we forgot to double check the order before leaving and just got home to a totally incorrect order. When we called they were nice enough but said we would have to come all the way back to the restaurant for a refund even though the order was placed online. We shared our experience of wanting to support, loving the food, but never getting the right thing and this being a consistent issue and we were given a casual “sorry, don’t know what to do”. It’s frustrating to want to support a local restaurant with great food and to be let down because we can’t get the right thing. Again, things are tough right now but at a bare minimum if you are spending money somewhere you should at least get what you order.
Horrible experience at this location. After ordering and taking my daughter to the restroom I politely asked if I missed my order being called and staff responded with "you have not, we're just busy". When re approaching the staff after 15 minutes of waiting for order to be called, they responded with "we actually forgot to print your ticket so will need to do that now, can you please get out of the entrance area". All of this happening with my daughter on my hip. This is a shame as I enjoyed this location. I will not be returning.
