Low sanitation grade and odd smell

We were celebrating my daughter’s 17th birthday. She loved it! The sushi was excellent and the service was outstanding. They even surprised her with a birthday sundae. We can’t wait to go back.
Miso soup was cold, the booth next to us kept banging up against the wall, pushing into my back the entire night. For a date night, do not recommend this place.
The food was fresh. The waiters & staff was very attentive. The food was good but it definitely tastes different than other places. I got the hibachi shrimp with garlic noodles while my friend had their dynamite roll. The restaurant places a twist on their food which we wasn’t expecting.
We booked this based on the great reviews. Many reviews even refer to this place as “upscale”, which is so far from the truth. When we arrived the hostess was arguing with a server. When she got with us she said “I know y’all requested a booth but we just sat all the booths”… We’ve had this reservation for over a week, but ok. They sat us right next to the hostess stand and the table was soaking wet and sticky. We had 2 different servers come up to us and try to get our drink order- then we heard them fighting with the hostess right next to our table about who’s table we were. After that someone didn’t come to us for about 20 min. We ordered some miso soup and a few sushi rolls. Thank god the food was delicious because that was the only positive about this place. The service wasn’t great, the restaurant was kind of dirty and not all what we expected from the reviews, but the food was good. I’d skip dining in and maybe just do take out at this place.
We were there to celebrate Mother’s Day. They had an unforeseen problem with their hot food that day. They only had sushi. That was OK for us because we love sushi! However, upon arrival half of their dining room was closed and we were seated next to the door. It was cold that day so we were uncomfortable. After they took our order I saw that there was an open table further away from the door and they accommodated us moving over to that table. The waitress was very nice and the food came out prompt. I thought the food was excellent.
