awesome ?really nice atmosphere and friendly staff food was A mazing

By far my first experience and will be my last experience due to the unprofessional manager that was running last night shift April 16,2022 at around 9pm-10pm I arrived at this restaurant and was definitely amazed at the atmosphere nice table arrangements and the live DJ was definitely killing it last night . I placed an order through a friend who was already seated at table before I arrived . I came with my cousin so we both ordered food 2 steak and fried plates the only difference in orders I wanted EXTRA TERIYAKI on my steak through the friend that was already seated. When we arrived we were greeted by a waitress she took our drink order and told us our food would be out soon. Shortly after our food arrived we noticed quite a difference in the plates . My cousins plate was simple bowl with fried rice and cut up steak pieces on top. My plate was very different huge flat plate with a scoop of rice and veggies and steak with teriyaki drizzled on the top . We definitely noticed the plate difference and was unable to inform the waitress due to her being very busy with other tables . After eating a few bites of my food which I didn’t eat much , the check was brought out with a very big price difference of $45 NY STRIP PLATE W/VEGGIES as for my cousin who ordered the same as me $25 Steak and rice . I immediately asked for the waiter why such a price difference for the same meal . The manger made his way over (light skin Latino guy curly black hair) he immediately started to put the BLAME on me I was so in shock . I explained to him the my friend at the table put our order in the only difference in plates were suppose to be TERIYAKI sauce on one. He immediately said “did you not see the huge plate difference?” I explained to him that I had never been to this restaurant and had no idea what I was getting I just order teriyaki steak and rice . This guy reached out me and took the plate right out of my hands and said “ I will discount the food but you can not take any food home “ I was so utterly shocked the table of 6 people strongly disagreed of his behavior. It turned into a yelling and screaming match over one plate of food . I never refused to pay I just asked my bill be the same as the person who ordered the exact same thing as me . The manager took the plate and discounted my bill a grand total of $7 for the $65 bill . I was very disappointed in his management skills taking food away from somebody due to a miscommunication between the waitress and the person who ordered my food . Nobody was to blame but the Manager definitely pointed fingers at the wrong person . I will be responding this multiple places Including BETTER BUSINESS BEREAU . He does not deserve to have a job like that in such a beautiful lively restaurant taking food out of people’s mouths and pointing the finger at the guest . Thank you

Beautiful atmosphere, great cocktail menu and other beverage options. Friendly waiting staff. Try the sushi options, tuna, shrinp, zucchini and salmon. Portions are quite big. Recommend.

When I tell you I had a ball!! It was a great evening!! My family wanted to step out for the night and my cousin knows the owner. I enjoyed the DJ and the food was on point! I would recommend this spot for a night out when you just want to eat, drink and groove at the same time. The staff is awesome and the owner is so humble, you would have known she was the owner because she is so GENUINE! I will be back!! Thanks for EVERYTHING!!

I’d like to say as someone who has lived in Charlotte for a while I’ve always had a pleasant experience coming to Nikkos. Last night was my 30th birthday and I made this reservation a month in advance with a signed contract and $1100 deposit for my table. I was called before hand by the manager who had to push my reservation from 8:15 to 9 - we arrived at 9 and waited over an hour to never be accommodated with different run around responses. Half of my birthday party ended up leaving because everyone was so hungry and I had to scramble to find somewhere else to go. The staff was entirely rude the whole process and didn’t make an effort to kick out the other table which I believe was supposed to be mine. Clearly this was a overbooking and boundaries issue on your behalf and you all handled it very very poorly. Highly disappointed in how my night went and I cannot say I will give you business in the future but wish you all the best and hope you proceeded with handling these kinds of issues in a more professional manner.

Everything is nice , bar place and dine in

Had high expectations for this restaurant since is was rated as one of the best sushi places in Charlotte. First thing I’ve noticed when i walked in was the place was pretty dirty. Our glasses had smudges on them like they haven’t been washed and the plates had some crumbs in them. Glass doors had smudges all over them and the floor needed a good sweeping. Anyways on to the food. Ordered four items off the menu including the sushi. Every single thing tasted off. The flavors, the sauces everything was bad. The water even and the Pepsi tasted awful. The sushi looked like it was rolled by an amateur and rolled in some chips and fried on the grill maybe. Raw sushi with charred crumbs around it. Very unappetizing. Didn’t even want to try them. The server was sitting eating lunch at the bar when she was not serving us and it looked like a scene out of Gordon Ramsey’s restaurant makeover show. 50$ later, We left most of the food sitting on the table. I took some of it home for my dog and we went to find another restaurant in the area with better food because we were still hungry.

When you first arrive at the restaurant to check in for your reservation, everyone in your party has to arrive before you are seated therefore there was a massive crowd at the entrance of the restaurant. This was not Covid friendly and very inconvenient. The food is mediocre and overpriced. On the Saturday night I went, there was a DJ blasting music almost like a club atmosphere. I went for dinner, not a night club. I wouldn’t recommend anyone coming to this restaurant for the food or ambience.

If I could leave less than 1 star for this place I would. This place was absolutely horrible. The music was way too loud, you couldn’t even hear the person next to you let alone the waiter. It was like we were at a club instead of being a restaurant. You couldn’t even enjoy the music because they didn’t have a dance floor. The food took way too long to get to the table, even if you order something simple like chicken fried rice. For the price of the food you’d expect it to be really good right? Wrong. The food tasted like bad drive thru food. I’d rather eat sushi from a gas station then go back there. Oh yeah there was a hole in the window behind our table so we were all freezing. We couldn’t even tell anyone because it was hard to get anyones attention. It was definitely a waste of time and money. I do not recommend this place at all!!

If you have a large party, plan to celebrate your occasion elsewhere. It’s evident that staff aren’t trained for large party events. I’ve been to Nikko a few years ago. The ambiance was breathtaking to say the least- Not so much anymore.. The reservation for a party of 25 was set weeks in advance. Due to the party size, a contract had to be signed ensuring that the party would spend at min of $1,500. With appetizers, entrees and drinks, Not a problem! As the party began to come in, individuals began to look through the menu to make the ordering process a bit smoother when our waitress came to take orders. By 7:30, a waitress came into the private room that was reserved and began “snatching” the menus off of the tables. When asked if we could have a few back as some of us hadn’t had a chance to review the menu, she responded by saying “I need these!” in a very hostile tone, while literally holding onto the menus in her arms for dear life!!! She then told us that we couldn’t have any of the menus that she took and that we’d have to share the 3 left on the tables. When the waitress assigned to our party came in, she was extremely unpleasant. Her facial expressions were rude and offensive when being asked about the menu, where the bathroom was and anything else associated with HER JOB! I never caught her name because she never introduced herself. She told us that she would be serving our party alone and that she didn’t want to serve a large party. Yes, that’s what she said and her demeanor the entire time said it louder than she did!!! Before orders were taken, there was a waitress called in to assist her. This waitress was a light skinned tone, with naturally curly, blonde her-This waitress was extremely nice and helpful! We were aware that service may be a little slower due to it being a Saturday and us having a large party. We ordered appetizers and drinks. We were told that there were multiple items on the menu no longer available. We asked if the appetizers would be out before the food and were assured that they would..needless to say, some came out after the entrees, some guest didn’t receive their meals until others had already finished, the food was cold and they provided some guest with silverware and some with plastic ware as “they needed the silverware for their other guest”. I will say, my sushi was amazing!! My entree, not so much but I didn’t expect it to be over the top after the initial experience I had had with the staff. When it was time to pay, the waitress walked over to the Birthday Girl and told her that the check was short $500. She had rang up one check, without gratuity.I asked that the check be printed individually due to when the personal invites were sent out, each person was told to spend min of $50, to ensure the min payment requirement was met. The tickets were requested so that each person can pay their difference if their min had not been met. When I explained this to the waitress, she said to me “Well that would be making more work for me! I’d have to split the checks then add them back!” She eventually split the checks and handed the stack of receipts to us to pass out amongst the party. We had to literally call out orders and handed the receipts out as guest raised their hand to “claim orders”. The waitress leaned against the wall and watched. I had my cash/receipt in hand to go locate a manager and request the cake be brought out. I left my purse and all personal belongings at the table. I was stopped by the “floor manager” who blocked me in front of everyone and accused me of trying to walk out on my bill. She was in my face and told me I couldn’t speak to another manger because she was the manager on the floor. She was very aggressive, I feared for my safety. She bumped me and taunted me as in an effort to start a fight. I asked several times that she stopped talking to me. I feel as if our party was being racially profiled! I spoke to a male manager who was friendly and assured me he’d handle it. He took half off my bill without me even suggesting him to do so. Anywho 1 star too many!
