Outstanding BBQ with fresh vegetable sides! Well done! Great service and cold beers! Our server Logan accommodated our large group with ease meeting our diverse dietary challenges. The brisket was cooked to perfection one could cut with a fork. The pulled pork was excellent. A big fan of okra and collard greens I can attest that they were fresh and delectable.
My friend and I stopped in a the South Charlotte location for a quick drink and dinner and the BBQ did not disappoint! We had almost the same thing (so my photos of the meals look like dupes almost)! We loved the Barbeque tips and if you like collard greens, they are amazing too! I really enjoyed the little pickle garnish that they place on the side and the sweet potato fries were on point! We had no wait time and we enjoyed a table in the outside bar area. They had a good selection of beer and I had a hard cider. The live band that was playing was a bonus that we didn’t expect—it was a very casual, relaxing vibe when we went last night. I have also frequented their location in Cornelius, and the food was equally good.Mac’s Speed-shop also has bike nights and other activities listed for the month (posted in the restroom). Other patrons also had dogs in the outdoor area which was nice to see.I wish I had room for dessert, but I’ll have to try that next time!
If you are in the mood for traditional southern bbq with all the classic sides, try Mac’s Speed Shop. I had the pulled pork. They also have beef, chicken, and shrimp, among other entrees. They had three different kinds of sauce on the table. All the sides we tried were delicious. Mac’s side offerings include sweet potato fries, collard greens, tangy cole slaw, and spicy baked beans. If I hadn’t been so full, I would have tried the banana pudding for dessert! The only negative thing I can say is that the service was kind of slow the evening we went. But we were enjoying family time together.
This location has a very calm atmosphere if you’re looking to spend some time by yourself or with love ones in a not so crowded environment. I ordered the 6pc wing half hot half barbecue for about $12. I asked them to cook a little longer because often the chicken can seem a little undone or too pink in the middle. I also ordered a shrimp taco for about $5 which was OK, I can’t say that I will order it again there was nothing special about it. My mother got the St. Louis ribs with two sides macaroni and tater tots, the macaroni was surprisingly good! We also got two drinks that wasn’t good at all I don’t recommend the drinks nothing special about it also didn’t taste well. I have to mention that people came with dogs which we are not a fan of at all. The dog owners also wasn’t respectful of other peoples space and keeping there dog from trying to lick guest. They did offer a lunch special but we did not order from that. I also got a banana pudding to go to try which was good as well. Overall I gave the place a six out of 10 because there was nothing really worth going back for. In total I spent around $90 at this location
Take out orders BEWARE! Food was fine but not to thrilled with “take out”. Ordered a shared platter and you get no sauce, but if I ate there have sauce options go figure. Also ordered an extra side of fries and get a very small order for $4.50!
Absolutely love Mac's. Been going here and the one in Cornelius for years. Great food. I wish I could bring this place back to Texas with me.
My wife and I met our niece at Mac’s and it was a great experience! Great choice. Brisket sandwich and Mac & cheese was a perfect match. Great time with our niece!
This place is just getting better. I typical visit the location on South Tryon but decided to gives this location a shot. Alana our server was excellent and gives great drink recommendations. Food was hot and well seasoned. Great atmosphere. Did not have to wait for outside seating. Front door hosts were funny and entertaining. Definitely be back.
I spent over $27 for this. A literal handful of brisket (I have really small hands) with two small sides & a slice of plain untoasted white bread. What the heck? I try my best to not do bad reviews, check my previous reviews if you want, but this is crazy. Never going to order from here again.
As a New Yorker we don’t get to eat at a lot of authentic BBQ spots so when I’m on the road i try and make a point of stopping at a few. Macs is a good one - a real good one. Mac’s has a HUGE beer selection, prices are very fair and you can even sit outside with your dog. The food was great, ribs were fall off the bone, the brisket burnt ends were amazing and their Carolina style BBQ sauce is delicious.
