We live in England and were visiting family in Rock Hill, SC for a wedding. As vegans, we always research places to eat well in advance. Ma Ma Wok was our #1 choice of places to visit while we were there. We were so excited to find an all-vegan Chinese place and couldn't wait to try it. We were not disappointed. There were 3 of us and we tried several dishes to share, including the Hot and Sour Soup, Shumai (dumplings), Pan-fried Potstickers, Buffalo Wings, Salt & Pepper Oyster Mushrooms, plus some Taro Cakes recommended by the staff. It was all amazing and satisfied our desires. Can't wait to return on our next trip over.
I love the incredible variety of vegan options in one place!! Everything I’ve gotten is wonderful. I love knowing this place exists. Do yourself and the planet a favor and try it!
The food is so good; you can not tell the difference. I order the BBQ wings, Spicy Orange Tofu, and Sesame Tofu. Way better than any other location, I have purchased Tofu dishes. I would never return to a regular Chinese food store to buy Vegan/Vegetarian dishes. This location has mastered the flavor, texture and more. I will be returning to try more items off the menu.
Good place to get vegetarian Chinese food. Lots of plan based meat options in the menu.Might get expensive but what is cheap these days.The service was mostly good and the food tasted fine. Will return to try more items.
5 stars for service and friendliness, 4.5 stars for the food. We went to Ma Ma Wok on a recommendation from a vegan blogger, and although the portions were beyond plentiful, the overall food was a little sweet and oily. That said, the best Chinese (vegan or not) cuisine that I've found in the Charlotte area! Tip: the fried oyster mushrooms are fantastic & if you like baozi (包子 stuffed steamed buns), then ask for the veggie one. It wasn't on the menu, but this was the most authentic Chinese food item that I tried at Ma Ma Wok.
We drove about an hour to try this vegan restaurant and it was entirely worth it!! They have such a big menu and we’re already planning our next trip back to try more dishes. Everything we ordered was phenomenal, but our favorite was probably the beef and broccoli. Don’t miss out! The woman who helped us with our order was also super sweet. Can’t wait to go back. :)
I really liked this place. The lady that took my order was very nice and was interested in how I heard about their restaurant. The food was freaking awesome as well. If you can, please try this spot out. You won't be disappointed!
The BEST Chinese food you will ever eat! Fully vegan menu of classic Chinese dishes that will change your life. The dumplings are a must try! Nicest staff and quick service. Everything is so fresh.
Went to lunch today and the order that we placed was completely wrong and when we brought it to their attention the first thing they said was no food returns obviously COVID-19 but also no refunds the waitress was very rude and disrespectful then another staff member came over and was just as rude in the end I told them it was fine I just want to pay and leave. Horrible service can't believe this is how people aka businesses treat paying customers it was so hostile. They gave me no receipt and very rude. Not sure why they felt the need to be that way will NEVER go back •caveat emptor
Ma Ma Wok is phenomenally Vegan and Chinese. I frequently order their AMAZING food. The staff is VERY friendly. Their restaurant is clean and BEAUTIFUL with charming Asian decor, and cherry blossom print dividers that act as partitions between tables. Everything about this place is Divine! I ALWAYS order a big meal when I come here: their Orange Chick'n and Cashew Chick'n entrees (both with extra rice) are splendid! I always order 4 spring rolls with Sweet and sour sauce. I get a box of 6 of their donuts (they are really beignets like the ones sold at Disney parks but not Mickey shaped), and my beverage of choice is always the Chai Ice Tea. Everything is Vegan and cruelty free. Even their FORTUNE COOKIES are AMAZING and SO SPOT ON!!!
