The food here is fabulous. We purchased 3 different entrees along with several sides and everything was delicious. It's very rare that you like every song on an album, but we did!
I try to support black businesses as much as possible but after today, I will not be supporting this one. I ordered my food online at 5:54 pm and did not receive my food until 7:05. When I originally called to see what kind of shrimp they have, no one could give an answer. One thing for sure, you should always know what’s on your menu. I do not suggest anyone go here. There definitely needs to be some revamping done at this establishment.
It's a soul food staple in the QC. You can't go wrong with any of the menu selections.You will have to go in person or order online. They apparently aren't skilled to take phone orders anymore. I miss the old days!
I was about to order some food for my family, but after reading reviews this seems like an establishment I won’t visit. First off how do you have a phone line for customers to call but you don’t accept call in orders then why even answer the phone better yet why even have a phone. Then I asked how many pieces of fish come in whiting fish sandwich she said “depending on size 1 or 2” for $9…that’s unreal for $9…why is it black owned businesses in Charlotte are the only ones I’ve ever known to have a active phone line in their restaurant but don’t accept call in orders…at some point we have to do better with our customer service as a people……….
Service was great, the woman who took our order was incredibly nice and engaging. The food was medoliocre at best. The macaroni and cheese had no taste. The mashed potatoes tasted like they came out of a box. Chicken was fine but I've had much better. Banana pudding was chalky. I didn't finish any of the meal.
Note to management: whoever did the cooking on the evening of 12/20 should NEVER be allowed to do so again. You guys were always just "ok" to me since I wasn't familiar with many other soul food options nearby, but this visit made it a fact I'll never return to this restaurant again. The mac and cheese, yams and CANNED greens were ALL gross and you can tell it was thrown together. The yams were mushy, the mac & cheese was old and dry and if anyone can zoom in and find a speck of seasoning on the greens, I'll cashapp you-it's bad enough they were from the can, but having no seasoning added tops it off for me. I placed this meal in the only place it belongs, which is in the trash and when I called to inquire about the refund policy, I was advised the food would need to be returned...I'm happy to do so, in the garbage bag it's in, but again I'll NEVER patronize this establishment.
Great food but not organized at all. Called to ask what time they are closing and someone said we close at 6 and and will be taking the last order at 5:45. I called again to place an order to pick up at 5:35 and then they said we don't take orders on the phone if you can get it by 5:45 which she should have stated ... I go anyway and arrive at 5:49 to get turned around. Ridiculous.
Order was messed up. Ordered okra and was given cabbage instead. Purchased (and paid for) a slice of strawberry cake. Did not get it in the bag. I should have checked my order before leaving. First time there so should not have expected much I guess. Food was ok though. Kinda pricey.
The food was excellent, the greens were just a little over seasoned, but that's okay, if I'm ever in North Carolina again I will visit again
I haven’t had one bad thing from this place! Take family and friends visiting here to this location all the time, they all love it! My favs are the Meatloaf (which they need to bring back…lol) Blackened catfish, fried pork chops, smothered pork chops, Baked pork chops, & shrimp is also good ?… one of the best food stops in Charlotte! and the lady that’s mostly always at the front door is such a sweet heart ?
