My family lives for Japanese food! After a long day at Carowinds we were starved and hopped over to eat at Japan 49. The food and portion size was amazing! The flavor...everything was so good! We were stuffed and had so much left over. We weren't sure if the food was really that good or we were just hungry, but when we had the leftovers it was just as good. 10/10.

Awe had a great time at this place. Shrimp, scallops & chicken is the best with the vegetables & fried rice. Our cook was great and he made are food perfect.
The hibachi was decent and the portions were good for the price. I have to give 3 stars because unlike any other decent sushi place they would not substitute tuna for imitation crab in a rainbow roll. I would have gladly paid an upcharge. When I told them I do not want it since I don't eat imitation crab, they tried to bring out the regular roll anyway, like I was just going to eat and pay for something I didn't want. It looked sloppy and poorly made too. If your looking for hibachi, try here. If you want sushi, go elsewhere.
Food was fabulous, everything tasted great. Chefs were fun and entertaining. Servers, however, seemed inexperienced and need some training on customer service skills. Not sure if it was because we had a big party but they made it lot more difficult than it should have been. Half our party did not even get to put in their order Drinks, appetizers, nothing. I used to be a waitress and would never think to give a bad review for the service industry but it's meant solely for feedback. If it wasnt for Management and food and chefs, I would have given a lower score. Drinks were never refilled and at the end half the checks were wrong. Returning business is what most restaurants depend on but with this experience, unfortunately we won't be back. That is a group of 30 that you lost.
Ordered the hibachi. As always, food was good. You can't go wrong with hibachi. The show was uninspiring. I've seen better cooking entertainment. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.
I ordered both the hibachi and teriyaki chicken dinner with egg rolls. The egg rolls were the highlight in my opinion they were fresh and had a really good flavor. The chicken in both dishes were a little dry and vegetables tasted very bland. I would try a few other places in the area out before returning
Was a nice experience and the staff were really friendly. We were greeted the moment we walked in and serviced the movement we sat down. The food was amazing and served fairly quickly. The shrimp tampora and shrimp hibachi were both amazing. Serving sizes are on the larger side, so be careful when ordering :), definitely going there again and will recommend this place.
So great to see this place so busy again. It was packed Friday and Saturday (yes I went both days). Service was good but you could tell the staff was having a hard time keeping up. Still they were polite and attentive and the sushi is always on point. Eel Avocado roll is my new fav!
Polite staff and waiters. We had a celebration dinner here with a group of friends and it was a great time. The chef was awesome and playing jokes on the kids while he was working.
