Nice little place. Food was good. Had a nice lunch. Back for a second visit today. Chicken salad sandwich was good. I'll Be back again.
My friend and I visited Jake’s based on a recommendation from another friend. We both ordered a fried bologna sandwich, a salad, and a sweet tea. My friend actually got a double bologna sandwich. The prices were listed on the menu but there were handwritten notes on it saying “prices are subject to change”. When we got to the register to pay, our bill was almost $60.00. We were flabbergasted. We asked why the bill was so high for two sandwiches and two salads, and they said it’s the “market price”. My bologna sandwich was $10, and my friend’s bologna sandwich was $20 because he had two pieces of meat on it. REALLY??? A bologna sandwich at “market price” is $10-$20??? Then two salads and two sweet teas, plus tax, was almost $30 making our entire meal nearly $60.00. Needless to say, we will NEVER eat there again.
My family and I eat here all the time, the food and service is amazing. And I read a post about the price changes, and yes some menu items have went up by a $1 or $2 but it states on top of all menus that some prices have been changed, there is also a sign posted at the register that some prices may very. And the wait staff also explained to us that they are waiting on new menus and always apologize for the inconvenience. And I'm pretty sure this isn't the only restaurant that has had to make some price adjustments along with grocery stores, gas stations etc due to covid and other various reasons. Highly recommend everyone eat there.
My wife and I decided to visit this restaurant after driving by it over a couple of years. It reminded me of an old Country store which brought back great memories. However, that was the only positive I can give to this establishment. We ordered the BBQ chicken, Mac-n-cheese with broccoli. The chicken was ok as well as the broccoli but the Mac-n-cheese was so bland we had to add salt and pepper for taste. I would have thought at $21 it would have been exceptional but when the bill came we were charged $25 each. I was extremely disappointed in a plate that Cracker Barrel charges $10 or less. With one beer and one glass of wine, our meal came to $79 with tip totaling $95. We will not be back.
Distinct atmosphere with a good food selection. Feels like a little nostalgia hype, but was good food and friendly service. A bit pricey on some dishes.
All I can say is WOW! Stumbled across this hidden gem as it's one of the few restaurants near my parents new neighborhood, and let me just say, everything we had was delicious! Best Mac and cheese I've ever had and all the entrees were just as amazing. Mostly southern cuisine with daily specials and very obviously home cooked style. Also, best cheesecake I have ever had, period! Come hungry, The portions are no joke either!
Due to the current Covid era lack of available workers, Jake's staff did a wonderful job considering they were down to 3 staff on a Friday night. Our server was hustling and had a big smile on her face. The food was excellent and hot when it arrived. The poor guy working kitchen was having his hands full I'm sure. If you go, just be patient and you will enjoy your slower paced meal experience.
By far the best southern food I've ever had. It's a bold statement and I stand by it. The pork chops blew my mind. My fiance got the barbecue chicken and it was also phenomenal.The food is so good that you completely forget about having to sacrifice your first born child to Baal to afford it. Great experience. We initially went because of Diners Drive Ins and Dives. I was a little skeptical but the food and service was great.
By far the most enjoyable lunch I’ve had in years. My wife and our friends try new places all over Charlotte for Saturday lunch, this blew all the others away. The apps, main course and desserts were all perfect! Out waitress Jennifer was an absolute joy and topped off a perfect meal. Will be back often!
