Way better than Caribbean Hut and Mama’s without question. I got the curry goat and oxtail (the oxtail was probably the best I ever had in my life). This is a hidden gem but not with the transplants that grew up on the island.
Man if you like bones this is the place for you!!! My dog saw my plate and almost did a backflip. But seriously this ain’t cool. If you didn’t like me you should have just said that at the counter.
Geared for "to go" customers, have tables we sat at. Portion of sides enough that you could split a meal or take some home with you. The attitude of Counter and Cook made the experience positive. Question whether they were the owners, they seemed to care that much.
Damn this place is so good - my only reference point is that my wife is Jamaican and her and her family are great cooks….and we loved it!Curry Goat ? won for the best thing we all tasted but the Ox Tail and Jerk Chicken were great too. Roti was solid and Cow Foot soup was delicious too.I got the house made Scotch Bonnet pepper sauce and it was fire ?- literally, but also it was the perfect taste.Love this place and will definitely be back!
Traditional Jamaican island cuisine but very heavy on the salt in both the Curry Goat and spinach. I ordered Curry Goat, rice and beans, spinach, steamed cabbage w.a side of sweet potatoes thru Uber Eats. However, my order did not come with steamed cabbage. But the yams taste straight out the can and the carrot cake has a funny consistency to it. But my husband said, the carrot cake was good. But the slice was way toooo small or thin for the price we paid for it $5 or $6. The portion size for the large plate was decent and thankfully the goat meat was not fatty or boney at all.
Only mistake they have ever made was being closed on a day I was craving this really bad ?? .. always amazing!! BEST IN TOWN!!Stew Chicken me please!!! Curry shrimp also pictured ...great as well!
I ordered the jerk chicken , and it was giving barbecue chicken . I’ve had Caribbean food my whole life so I know what it’s suppose to taste like. The banana pudding cake was actually good . My boyfriend enjoyed his , me not so much.
I really enjoy the food from this place. Their Jerk is just right seasoning. I highly recommend checking this place out. On a Side note, they have a full bar and fun activities such as karaoke Fridays.
Better than all other Jamaican restaurants I've been to in Charlotte. Curry goat n oxtail are excellent. The jerk chicken however is pretty bad and should not be called jerk. It is more like baked chicken with some type of semi flavored dark gravy. Rice is good. They never have beef Patties but have many other island favorites. Overall good food.
Authentic Jamaican Cuisine. Food is always tasty and fresh. Be sure to try their oxtails or jerk chicken. They have the largest selection I’ve seen in the area. From vegetarian meals, patties, soup, pastries, pasta, roti’s, fish and island drinks. Oh and two thumbs up for having a bar as well. Great addition to the neighborhood. Will definitely continue to visit.
