Iâm unable to give this place a full legit review due to the restaurant running out of food for the 2nd time during brunch hours before Noon. All while reservations were still open via OpenTable. There was no one at the front to host or barely anyone to grab to get their attention to get seating. At least have someone at the front to inform customers that the business will be shutting down early instead of having people waiting around and looking lost. Thankfully, I was able to grab the bartenders attention or I would still be standing in the middle of the restaurant.
Took awhile to get seated. The food came out in an adequate timeframe, but they tried to pass off chicken breasts as thighs, which is what my husband wanted. Waiter said the kitchen didnât notify the wait staff of the outage. I had the bison meatloaf - it was great. My husbandâs replacement meal took over the â15 minutesâ promised. It took too long to get the waiterâs attention to get our check. When it finally arrived, they didnât take off the incorrect meal. Took WAY too long to get the revised ticket & get to our event. Overall, we wonât be back. Too bad ⦠their reviews were pretty good.
My wife and I had already looked at the menu online in order to save time when we got there. We ordered appetizers and our entrees. I donât know if they were short-staffed or not, but it took 20 minutes to get our food and, as we suspected, they brought our appetizers with the entrees. The food itself was okay (typical hotel food, too salty) and they were out of some of the menu items. Our server was good (college student at nearby UNCC). He made the best of a challenging situation. It was okay overall, but not worth the price we paid for dinner.
This were my first time dinning at the Golden Owl Taverns. It were nice but need to add certain condiments and maybe change the items on the menu around to fit the combination of the meal

Great service, however The restaurant had 86'd several items on the menu by 6:00 p.m. on a Thursday. Several things we ordered were not good... Over cooked broccoli, burnt fish, over fried green tomatoes.
Deviled eggs and shrimp apps were fantastic. Great service. Smoked wings weren't smoked... still good but not smoked

I did not get all the items I ordered. The beef ribs were chewy despite the 72 hour heading. I asked for ice with my water several times and never got it. Too high a price for that level of service and food quality.
