We really enjoyed this place. We had the pretzel, bratwurst, mustard sampler, and beer sampler. All were good. Nice German decor. Service was great. The only comment is that they charge $3 for a mustard sampler if you want mustard with your food. That is a little weird. The smooth is like Grey Poupon and the grain tasted like regular mustard. The other one is a sweet type which was not my favorite. It is not worth the extra money. Otherwise, we had a great experience. I would definitely recommend this place.
Excellent food and beers. We have been waiting a long time to get Gilde in town since they announced it (in 2020?) and it was worth the wait!! Looking forward for some shades for the outside seating though, it gets real hot real fast!
Beautiful new space in the Charlotte Brewery market. Beers are top notch Bavarian styles, food a bit disappointing. Seemed liked kitchen was big on quick and low on quality IMO. Better Bretzels at Oktoberfest and hotter sausage and other foods and Oktoberfest served thousands at a time. Love the bier and concept, hope food service improves. Beautiful inside seating, nice outdoor space also.
Heard about this place for a while, put it on my list of places to check out. Overheard a coworker singing praises about the place. Had family visiting so let’s go try some German! We came here on a Saturday night, crowded but not extremely busy. Sat outside on one of the picnic tables in the large outdoor patio. Beer was excellent. They’ve been brewing beer since the 1500s so I suppose they are doing something right. We all shared the pretzel, bratwurst, schnitzel, Mecklenburg pork & spaetzle. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. We enjoy going to OMB and Waldhorn for many years and I have to say that the food at Gilde is better. At least this night. Go enjoy this new addition to CLT. Prost!
Go, go, go!!! A truly authentic German restaurant and biergarten!!! Beautifully designed and furnished, this new eatery is a keeper! Located a block and a half off the Scaleybark stop on the lightrail line, it is an easy walk. The beer and menu items are all German fare. Opens at 3pm with a limited starter menu selection until 5pm when dinner entrées are offered. If you have ever been to Germany and eaten the fine foods there, this place will have you reliving those memories of the excellent cuisine you sampled in your travels. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and far enough from Center City to have a pleasant time unencumbered by loud traffic noises. German music/artists played over the dining area and outdoor speakers. A great time awaits!!
Fantastic beer and food. The atmosphere is perfect. Love the open spaces and garage doors opening to bring the outside indoors. The staff was great. I preferred the classic German beer than the new stuff, but it's hard to improve 500 years of brewing. What more do you need?
Lovely new German brewery! Bier is excellent and food is good too. Highlights for us include the obazda and kartoffeln
Beautiful new restaurant and brewery from one of Germanys largest brands. We got a sneak peek and enjoyed a great selection of beers, German dinners and a great dessert. Inside is distinctive, modern, and invitingly warm. Plenty of room. Great service. Can’t wait for the grand opening.
Exciting to be there for the grand opening. They struggled at the start with a surprising turnout but quickly pulled it together and it was FANTASTIC.Friendly staff. Delicious German delights. And well...the BEER.Not my last visit and bringing friends.
Nice new brewery in LoSo! Spacious inside and outside with lots of German touches. Service was great, our waitress Andy was really knowledgeable and helpful! We got a pretzel which was served with a traditional German cheese dip. It was much thicker than the beer cheese we are used to in Charlotte but still had a nice flavor. The spaetzle was almost like a mac and cheese. Plus it was a very large portion! The bauernwurst was really delicious especially with the mustard and vinegar-based potato salad. The beers were top notch as well; we did 2 flights and our favorites were the Red Rooster and the Dark Hen (which tasted like banana bread!!). The radler was good but sweet and only served in a can so you can’t get it as part of a flight. Overall really impressive especially since they just opened last week. Can’t wait until they host events and hopefully they will expand their menu to have more entree options!
