Me and about 25 of my chapter brothers had our reunion luncheon here last Friday 7/22/22. The food was amazing, literally the best thing I ate in Charlotte. In addition the service was impeccable and the restrooms where spotless. They even kept the Resturant open for an additional hour to accommodate us. I couldn’t have hoped for a better experience for our event. Thank you so much. We will be back.

Horrible service and disrespectful staff, I was rudely rushed out of the established and had the door slammed behind me, do not eat here.

This is one of the most unprofessional establishments ever. I called the location at 5pm to place an order for pick up. No one answers. So I drive to the location. I make it there by 5:30. People are eating and the doors are locked. I asked could I place a to go order. The waitress was polite enough to ask Mrs. Freshwater. She stated no they are closed. The purpose of business hours are to serve during those hours. If not close at 5pm.

I really wish I could get my money back. NOTHING was seasoned at all. The collard greens are absolutely disgusting. The Mac and cheese is extremely mediocre. The cat fish had absolutely no taste. The corn bread was burnt and it’s so dry it should come with a warning label. My friend had the fried chicken and it had absolutely NO taste. We drowned our food with hot sauce to flavor it. We drove 45 minutes for this and I couldn’t be more upset. New Orleans style where??????? Let’s not talk about the nasty shrimp étouffée. DO NOT GO HERE.

They food was delicious ? it was my Chapter 54 Birthday dinner. The atmosphere was very clean and pleasant.

Felt like we was at Grandma's house. Mrs. Freshwater is an amazing host (I think we go just to see her latest outfit, she SHARP!!) No but ..really the have the best sweet potatoes in America. The whole menu is out of this world. You can't go wrong at Freshwaters.

Today my family dined in at Freshwater as we were all in the mood for a good southern meal and experience. To our disappointment the service and food were both horrible. We had a large party of 9 so we expected somewhat of a wait however we waited over a hour and a half. The hostess did not ask for our name nor provide an estimated wait time, she did not even really greet or acknowledge us. The owner finally seated us after we complained we then proceeded to wait almost another 45 minutes for our orders. The majority of our party was missing food and the children's order were brought out last. I ordered the pork ribs with Mac and cheese, collards and yams. The ribs were so tough I could barely chew them and the flavor of the sauce taste like perfume was cooked into the barbecue sauce, I couldn't eat them so had to order catfish to go. The macaroni was decent mediocre at best, the collards lacked flavor however I will say the yams and the uptown was good. It was hard to get the attention of our server to express that we were displeased and when we did the attitude was very nonchalant. Our drinks were not refilled and one waitress who cleaned the tables did not say a word to us and grabbed our plates without asking. I am highly disappointed I would love to recommend this black business but due to the unprofessional demeanor of the staff and owner I was so displeased and would suggest that they reevaluate the service they are providing.

The experience: My cousins and I came to Freshwater’s for the peach cobbler based on the reviews. 2 of us went inside to order and to wait on the rest of our party. Before the rest of the party could even come in, the owner instructed the hostess to lock the door and not let anyone in. They didn’t even want to let the rest of our party come in, even though she knew we were waiting for a few more. The owner was rude to the hostess and the poor girl was so flustered, her hands were shaking. She even apologized on the owner’s behalf. The peach cobbler: The peace cobbler was absolutely horrible. It was more peaches than cobbler and it had absolutely no flavor. I’ve had better peach cobbler from Shane’s Rib Shack. To be honest, I would even prefer Marie Callander’s peach cobbler over Freshwater’s. 3 of us threw it in the trash after the 1st bite. 1 of us had a burnt hard piece of unflavored dough.Maybe we came on a bad night…I don’t know. Maybe the owner was more concerned about the large party that she had coming in over the customers that were already there. Either way, the terrible customer service plus the terrible peach cobbler guaranteed that we will never come back.

My dad bought home food from this place for dinner yesterday. I was amazed by the amount of wings. The mac&cheese and candied yams were delicious! The chicken wings were overcooked and the flavor was ok. Everybody has an off day though. I'd go there for the sides alone!

I’m not sure how often they get a lot of business but the chair and the napkins that the utensils are wrapped in were dusty and hard dry water spots all over the glass!! The food was ok. The salmon cake was basic. The rice with the shrimp creole taste like over cooked parboil rice. I was looking for an authentic New Orleans style restaurant. I tried to give it the benefit of doubt but nothing was really good about the whole experience to be honest.
