The food was flavorful, but the hamburger with gravy on rice was the saltiest entree I have ever had. The veggies were fine and the cake was ok.
This is my first time ordering from this establishment and it was pretty good for my first time. I’ll start off by saying I ordered an hour prior to closing which I try not to do, but was craving soul food and found this place. After reading extensive reviews I decided on the smothered hamburgers over rice with gravy , sweet potato mash, and collard greens/cabbage with smoked turkey meat. For dessert I ordered a piece of red velvet cake . Sides are good. However, entrees were not as advertised. My grilled jumbo shrimp was steamed, not grilled and not jumbo, also shelled. There wasn't much food for the price as well.
Have yet to order anything and I mean anything that did not taste great. There has been many a time where I sat in my car with people watching my go to town on the grilled or fried pork chop, chicken wings and chicken breast. Love the new ordering system online and the professional staff.

When she was out of one of my sides, she called me to provide other options. And y'all how about Sis puts smoked meat in her veggies! - I Y K Y K - By far the best soul food restaurant I've been to thus far in Charlotte !! To add, when it comes to food, I'm hard to please. I'm a southern girl & we don't play about our seasonings! The baked chicken was good as well. I'v eaten from here multiple times. I also tried the sweet potatoes (yams). They weren't what I was accustomed to. They were mushy and lacked flavor. Mac & cheese was a 3/5.

I ordered a Thanksgiving meal and let me just tell you...the Cajun fried turkey, baked chicken and cabbage were absolutely delicious. not only was the food great but the owner was very professional and accommodating!!!!!!
If you are looking for down home cooking the way it used to be, this is the establishment for you. Their menu has variety, flavor and they never stay stagnant always updating looking to improve and make their customers happy. I have yet to order a meal and not be satisfied. You can't go wrong with any of the sides, their pork chops are fried just right and they can season food like nobody's business. Thank DSC for always always supplying my family and I with delicious food every time.
