Food was really good, but only issue I had was that I asked for cheese in my eggs and they forgot so the waitress took it back, I was thinking they would make me a fresh batch. But nope just slapped some cold cheese on top and brought back out to me. Thankfully the eggs were hot so least it’s melted once I mixed it up some. Wait staff was very friendly. Sweet tea was the perfect example of how a southern staple should be. The fried chicken thigh was juicy and cooked just right. I would go back.
I got the country fried steak, with mashed potatoes, deviled egg and mac n cheese as well as chocolate pecan pie for carryout. The steak and potatoes were amazing. Thebsteak was crispy, well cooked, and flavorful. The mashed potatoes had a bit of the skin in and went great with the steak. So good! The biscuit was nice and fluffy, I just wish they gave me some honey or jam to eat with it. I also wasn't crazy about the pie, deviled egg and mac n cheese. They weren't bad, I've just had better. But this place was really good and I'd definitely return to try other things on the menu.
Cajun Happy Hour was really good. The smoked crawfish, sausage, corn and potatoes were excellent. The music was great, but too loud for conversation. Beers were cold, service was good. Outdoor dining was nice. I’d do it again.
Loved Dish in Charlotte NC. Had a really great vibe and atmosphere! They have drink specials daily and a fantastic menu. We shared the sampler plate with deviled eggs, potato puffs, fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese with ritz crackers and homemade potato chips! Everything was delicious. We also had the meatloaf sandwich, the chicken fried steak and the shrimp and grits. Everything was phenomenal but the shrimp and grits were by far the best we’ve had in Charlotte. Will def go back! And a shout out to our server Lee, he was super friendly and quick!!!
One of the better places for brunch in Charlotte. We arrived at 10am, and it was amazing there was no line or reservations required! The place exudes a down home southern style, and is beautifully simple and unassuming. But the food here is quite the opposite, so tasty and full of flavor! I ordered the tomato biscuit casserole, and an egg + cheese croissant sandwich. The casserole was something new, I've never had anything like it, but I would definitely get it again. The combination of tomato, onion, celery and crumbled biscuit was delightful. It is small though, so you'll want to get something to accompany. The croissant sandwich was perfectly flakey, and the scrambled eggs fresh and flavorful as well. The cherry on top was superb service from Jenny, who found her calling as a server, and was fun, friendly and a joy to be around.Next time you're looking for a good brunch, definitely give Dish a try.
This longstanding Central Ave. establishment has stayed a consistent favorite since we first tried it years ago! The menu is a fresh take on Southern comfort food. If you like deviled eggs, nearly every dish comes with one! Thanks to Covid, we discovered there's a really spacious patio in back that's perfect for a sunny brunch. Actually, they seem to serve brunch every day!The Down South Benedict comes with 2 thick slices of pork belly, and the veggie cajun lentil loaf is filling with a little spicy kick!Their service and prices are unbeatable too. When I commented that the cauliflower mash was good but a little salty, our server cheerfully said he'd pass that along.Overall, highly recommend!
Chicken and dumplings were delicious but heavy on the pepper. Deviled eggs were great! Service was excellent and place was clean.
Ava was such a great waitress with good customer service. Our food was very filling and tasty. We definitely recommend The Dish if you're looking for a southern cooking and good drinks.
We found this place when looking for breakfast. Most places had lines so we landed here. This place is a hidden gem for affordable and good. If you want just a good quality soulful southern breakfast this is the spot. It’s eclectic much like the staff. Our host was welcoming and our waitress was very attentive and nice. The service from start to finish was fast. They had so much more to offer that I would have loved, but breakfast was the aim. The main thing I appreciated was the price. You can get so much for under $10! I had the southern breakfast which was choice of meat (I chose livermush), grits, hash brown casserole, biscuit and gravy, egg your way (sunny side up for me), and coffee. My fiancé had the breakfast bowl which was eggs (your way), choice of meat (bacon), grits, cheese, and a biscuit. Bacon looked perfect! He had coffee as well. $25! They also had alcohol ?
Dish is a neighborhood staple.. I love the fresh takes on classic favorites and how consistently good their menu is. They are always so friendly and welcoming. Stop by for lunch or dinner. You will not be disappointed.
