This BBQ restaurant is one of my favorite places in Charlotte. The food is amazing and always fresh. The Brisket is mouth watering. All the side dishes are so delicious. I do come often as it never disappoint.I would recommend anytime ?
I came here with a few colleagues. The barbecue ribs were okay, a little sweeter than I like. The mac and cheese were excellent. The collard greens were disappointing. It was freshly made but seemed to lack flavor. This is a Pepsi establishment versus Coke.I net out to four stars because it's a good fast casual place. Not somewhere. You would take someone to press them on the barbecue but otherwise a solid choice.

This City Barbecue is definitely one of the best BBQ places around in the greater metro area. Food was excellent here, which was a great surprise. We have our favorite places and this now ranks amongst the top 3. Everything is made perfectly here and has a great taste. Advise that you get here early! We got here when they opened on a weekend, and by the time we left it was already getting packed. Great food, can't wait to go back soon!
I’ve eaten here before and forgot why I don’t visit more often. I ordered a Pork Plate with fries and cole slaw for dinner. It’s not crowded and the food comes out fairly quickly. The meat is cold, maybe a whiff of luke warm in spots. I recall this happened before and there is no way to heat it. Sorry, I don’t want cold pork. Yuck. The fries also cold and limp. The slaw is uninspired, but edible. It’s really too bad because the staff is nice, portions are fine, but the quality is not there. I won’t give it another go.
Just moved to Charlotte and this was the first BBQ place we’ve hit. Great food, brisket was awesome. Had the corn pudding, Mac n cheese, and hush puppies. All were very tasty and great portions. Sat outside with our dog who had the pulled chicken; he recommends it too!
My favorite menu item to order is the brisket. It never disappoints. My husband and I enjoyed our meal. Quick and friendly service. Convenient location with plenty of parking. Indoor and outdoor seating.
Horrible online ordering experience (not visit to store) followed by bad customer service. Long-standing customer who orders 2-3 times per month for two people. I placed an order tonight, and apparently since my default Ballentyne branch had no internet, the order was redirected to another location in another town of Matthews. My order screen did not tell me this, and I did not choose to do business with a Matthews restaurant. When I received the order confirmation email, I saw a different store and a estimated delivery time of over an hour out. I immediately called the store to cancel the order since I had 8 hungry people at hand. I spoke with Britney who said she would cancel the order (the call was made 2 mins after the order was placed). Twenty-five minutes later I got a confirmation that my order would be delivered 1 hour and 11 minutes after I placed it. I called again and spoke to Nia and gave her the back story; she then transferred me to "home office." I told Brandon what happened, and he said he would take care of it. He took my credit card info and said he would credit the amount back to me. Then he called me back two minutes later only to tell me the delivery service had already picked up the food and he couldn't give me a credit. In the meantime, my boyfriend and friends had already gone to the local City BBQ (Ballentyne) to pick up food as well as pizza/burgers for those who didn't want barbeque. Now I'm out an additional $49 for food that won't get eaten for a technical problem that was no fault of my own. Also, I have someone at their "home office" collect my credit card information when he wasn't going to use it for a refund. Why did he collect it, then? Ultimately I was failed by Britney, Nia and Brandon, and City BBQ lost a solid customer who has ordered >$700 worth of food from them just since Sep 7, 2021. Shame on them.
Brisket with potato salad, coke slaw and lemonade for dinner. It came with my choice of 2 sauces. I went with original bbq and mustard bbq. It was delicious, Nice atmosphere. Clean. Quick, Spacious. Good service.
The ribs are so much better than they used to be and the brisket was always good but now it is great. I’ll definitely be coming more often.
