Portions are large enough to be shareable or have leftovers. Price point is amazing. Service always top notch. Truly a hidden gem of sorts in south Charlotte. Variety of dishes across Central and South America.
5 years ago I rated this place 5 stars, Im updating it to 1 star. I eat here regularly as it’s close to me, but Cabo’s has gone way down hill over the last 6 months. Food still tastes good, but is frequently messed up. I’ve had 3 orders in a row that were missing items. My California burrito I got to go has only chicken in it, none of the other stuff that was supposed to be in there. It’s usually huge and with just chicken it was tiny. Can only assume they say a to go order and decided to con me, because how can you forget everything inside? Woulda never been served if I had eaten there.Take your money elsewhere.
Been here a few times since moving to Charlotte. But on 5/3/22 I was livid. It was nice out so I requested to sit on the patio. Was seated and waited for almost 25 mounties with nothing. No one ever came to greet me take my drink order etc. I go inside and how long before I am served. I let them know that I have been outside for over 25 to 30 minutes at this point. Someone came and brought chips and salsa and left and it was about 10 minutes later that someone came and took my drink and food order. And even though they knew what was going on no one ever came out and apologized or offered a complimentary dessert or comp something off my bill and the owner and a few other way staff just acted as if I didn't exist. My first time eating at this restaurant I absolutely fell in love with their food it is delicious and very flavorful. But the service always sucks especially when it comes to my brown skin. So even though I enjoy their food they can never get any more of my money and I'm just thinking that the Mexican restaurants in South Carolina are so very different the people are more friendly caring nurturing and just all around take care of all their customers the same. I guess it's the North Carolina thing but I absolutely had a horrible experience
My husband and I have been going to Cabos about once per week for the past 2 years. We are never disappointed. The margaritas are wonderful and the queso is on point. I'm not sure why other reviewers found issues with the service. This has never been the case for us. We will continue coming back for years to come.
Upon arrival, my boyfriend and I were placed at a table away from everyone close to the bathroom. I noticed immediately and felt discriminated against, although we were not the only Black people in the restaurant at the time. However, our waiter made the experience pleasant and was very efficient. The food and drinks were delicious! Honestly not sure if I would return, and if I do, I would just sit directly at the bar.
We love Cabo’s and go almost every week! Their taco Tuesday can’t be beat and while I always get the same thing my boyfriend loves trying out the whole menu! We do have one complaint however and that’s that the chips are consistently too greasy. They always bring us new ones when asked but the first basket is always underwhelming.
margaritas! food was equally as good!
So here are a forward statements:"Your mouth doesn't have to pay for this gym membership""You'll love this place if your drunk or you have lost your palate"We ordered the Lomo Saltado (steak/green peppers/3D fries with some rice on the side and my wife ordered some beans with steak and rice.We ordered our food, and literally 5 minutes later our food came out. Not a good sign! Two plates came out, looking eerily the same, the food was arranged slightly different. More of cafeteria style. The food was devoid of taste. Our meats were essentially the same even though we ordered something different. I don't know what the worst part of the cow is, but we got it. The flavor wasn't great, but what was worse was the exercise your mouth had to undertake to eat one small piece. Bubblegum would have been more pleasurable. It felt we were chewing a combination of plastic and cardboard. The service was good, and the drink my wife ordered was probably the only good thing about the meal.Couldn't see the food being prepared, so we hope the animal being advertised on the menu was the animal on our plate.RATINGS10 - speed of service, attentiveness (would give a score of 22 if it existed. This food came out faster than Taco Bell. Was this food already prepared,? Maybe? I have never been able to cook meat under 5 minutes, chewy and hard no less. They must have a super duper time machine cooker.7 - cleanliness8 -. Ambiance1 - food quality/taste9 - portion size1 - authenticity of cuisine. (Other Mexican restaurants beat this hands down. Wish we had gone to the pizzeria or the Great Wall of China next door)$$$ out of 5 for cost of plate
Excellent food! Good service, they were short staffed today so the wait was a bit long but they warned us and did their best and it was totally worth it. My brother who eats here regularly reports that this is an unusual occurrence.
I used to enjoy living in the apartment complex right across the street and being able to go to Cabo’s all the time! When I moved I missed it and went out of my way to go! The last two times I went including last night were not the case.I am vegan and ordered off the vegetarian menu.First, the vegetarian burrito wasn’t vegetarian because it had refried beans. Refried beans are made with lard. Lard is fat from animals. If the beans were vegetarian, then I apologize, but I’m guessing they were not.Second, the “vegetarian” burrito wasn’t a burrito. It was basically an enchilada with vegetables on top. As I have eaten and seen many other burritos that are made properly, ie, filled with vegetables, sauce, potentially rice and actually fit on a dinner size plate, not a side plate, I was very disappointed.
