They are RACIST! My family and I decided to visit this establishment the night of June 2nd, after my cousins wedding. We walked in excited because it was a nice vibe! It was super packed and a group was just leaving a table and offered it to us! Great start. I went to the bar and ordered 3 drinks. It was an older white lady as the bar tender. We waited about 20 minutes. I stood by the bar the entire time and-no drinks. I started to pay attention a little more to my surroundings and asked the same bar tender for the 3 drinks again. I sat and watched her serve several white people that asked for drinks after me. I then asked the black male bartender "what's going on"- hoping to get some type of empathy and he informed me that she (the lady) was the manager and she would get to me and he refused to serve me. Now I'm upset. I told my male cousin who approached the manager and asked her what's going on. He said "is this how the black group is treated in your bar?" And the manager replied "there's a black hookah bar about 6 minutes from here and they have good food".... disgusting. What should have been a night of celebration was ruined. Of course we left. I'm not from North Carolina and I've never been blatantly discriminated against. Just a warning my beautiful brown and black people, we are not welcomed here.
Spent $350 waiting downstairs at the bar when they said our wait would be 30-45 minutes for Buho. After 2.5 hours, they said we can go up in groups of 2. Very unprofessional. They asked we put a mask on when nobody was wearing a mask. Totally unprofessional for a “classy” establishment. Clearly they don’t know their clientele or have customer service to match it.
This bar is on the 16th floor. Very comfortable seating with couches, etc. Dim lighting, lots of red velvet - think Sinatra era lounges. Not really sure why there is such a process to get up there, it's nice, but not that special.
5 star - even though we had a slight delay. We waited about 12 minutes before anyone would approach us and ask if we’d like anything to drink. An older man with gray beard came up and was very nice and helpful with suggestions. We ordered the crab dip, shrimp lettuce wraps, and the flatbread, and all were very delicious- I probably enjoyed the crab dip the most. The service aside from the beginning was much better. The ambiance is on point and the drinks were very good and crafty. We will be back!
Beautiful scenery. Great vibes. Good drinks. Staff was professional and friendly.
Great location. Just don’t recommend it on weekends. It’s a $10 up-charge per person to get up to the bar if you aren’t staying until the hotel. When I asked if the valet was included and they said yes. Yet it is another $10 to get your car. Texted to get my car at 11 and it wasn’t brought until 11:30.The slow Valet really ruined this place for me. The service at Mico’s is already the worst in Charlotte so putting this on top of that… I simply would never recommend anything to do with the Grand bohemian hotel unless you are prepared to wait eons for your car and cocktails.
We were guests a the hotel...and there is no difference between guest vs. public for entrance into the rooftop bar...we had to wait in the lobby for a text...then we were seated inside not outside...and had to wait inside the bar for an outdoor "space" ...you can't just go outside to hang out...you have to get a "space" outside...we didn't wait long ...its definitely a great use of outdoor space...very comfortable and great views...wine was a good pour....however, one in our party ordered bourbon on rocks, and when we got the bill he was upcharged for ice...2.50 extra on the bill and it said "ice 2.50"...We have never experienced that yet...who knows if they poured extra bourbon in the glass but it didn't look like it...it was a regular pour over a huge square ice cube...to the tune of 2.50 for the "ice"....we enjoyed our time out there...but that didn't sit well with us.
Chase did a great job and was very patient with us as we decided on our food & drinks. The chalk Chardonnay is excellent, as was The Convert red blend. We shared the Street corn fries appetizer, it’s delicious!
My partner and I just left here at 6:03pm on 8/7/21 We were seated in the Buho Bar. We were treated to the indignity of watching every single waitress serve everyone around us including people who came in after us while we were constantly ignored. It was really dehumanizing and really hurt to be treated that way. After we had enough and started to leave, a waitress finally decided to acknowledge us and ask if we had been served. I wish this was a better experience and I’m sure others may have been treated better. But this honestly just ruined an otherwise good day.
The staff and bouncers working the “line” to get into this bar were rude and standoffish. They claim that anyone from a wedding in the hotel simply isn’t guaranteed to get onto this rooftop bar, despite several of us trying to fairly get our names on the list 30 minutes prior to when we wanted to potentially get to the bar (these were all the “rules” we were told to follow). What a joke.
