Amazing classic drive in! Bbq sandwich was fantastic. Can’t wait to try the dipped chicken!

Went in to place an order on 06/21/2022 and the customer service was subpar and has been any and everytime you have to deal with big eyed Willy. I Ordered fried bbq chicken but was deliberately given plain fried chicken and cold fries. Then somehow when I alerted them of the mistake with my order they were all out of fried BBQ chicken. As a native Charlottean this place has been on a steady decline and probably won’t be open much longer, and I won’t be sad to see it go!!!

We're not from the south but happened to be down here for a wedding and looking for a bite to eat when we rolled up on Bar-B-Q King and decided to give it a try. We had a double patty Po Boy with fries - good burger, cooked well and flavorful - and some pulled pork with baked beans and hush puppies - also cooked well and very flavorful. You have to like strong vinegar based flavors because that's what the pork and coleslaw were but the rest of the food was pretty mild. If you're an onion ring fan, you have to try them, thick cut, crispy and fresh fried! You eat in your car so the car hop experience was fun and, obviously, kids friendly. The fellow who waited in us was super friendly and helpful figuring out what we wanted to order and the food only took a few minutes to come out.

very nice each and everything even service also

The owner was very RUDE. I explained that the tartar sauce tasted more like mayo and pickles. He snatched the unopened bag, slung it to the side saying " So, what you want me to do? Very angrily stating it's homemade, put the refund on top of the bag and aggressively shoved it to me, saying I don't want it ,you throw it away!!! Mind you, I arrived at opening hrs. No cook and two workers quit yesterday. This was told to me by one of his employees who also stated,he can't keep employees because of his disrespectful disposition. So I returned and spent almost $50. Got home and realized I should've opened the bag, hush puppies and onion rings were over cooked!! I'll never return unless he's (GUS,the owner, aka Mr. Rude you know what)!! is willing to accept my CHALLENGE for HOMEMADE Tartar sauce! I might ever get on the sidewalk and offer FREE samples of of my sauce!!!

How have I never been here before? We were catching a Theatre Charlotte show at Warehouse 242 and, lucky for us, the first two restaurants we stopped in had longer waits than we had time for. Bar-b-q King to the rescue! Definitely a 50s vibe. You pull up to a speaker, order, and a server delivers your tray (not on roller skates though!). You pay the server, and there is a 3% surcharge for a card, so cash is good here. I got a grilled chicken salad and sis got a chicken club. Even though I'd never been here, I had the good sense to order the onion rings. Definitely a good choice. Light, crunchy, perfectly fried. Next time we'll give it more time as we ended up having to get to-go boxes, which were delivered promptly. Love it. Will go back!

The food was absolutely delicious, best Cole slaw I’ve ever had, and way more than we could eat

We decided to try this establishment for the first time after seeing a television story about it. Husband and I both ordered the barbecue half chicken, ff & cole slaw & neither of us enjoyed our meal. If you like the overpowering taste of vinegar than this is thr place for you.

I purchased 2 seafood platters. I liked the fact that I could drive up look at the menu board on my own time push the button place my order and they bring it out. The presentation of the plate was better than a lot of restaurants you receive a large amount of food and it tastes good.

As good as I remember. It has been years since I ate here and it has not changed. The Po Boy was absolutely delicious.
