As a die hard fan of the Akahana in Belmont, I was a bit skeptical of eating at the original location. The parking lot is currently a mess due to construction, however, any annoyance from that is quickly abated by the attention of the wait staff. The sushi is just as good (dare I say better?) than the Belmont location. If you're looking for quality, top notch sushi in the Charlotte area, look no further than Akahana!
Really gone downhill over the last few years. Place needs to be updated. Looks like it could use a deep clean and fresh paint. Bathrooms smell like there’s a plumbing problem. Sushi is alright.
Gross. The owner is so cheap, never provides you with chop sticks, or soy sauce packets. I BEGGED over the phone for extra and there was none in the bag. Avocado was brown. Lettuce in ginger salad was brown and old. AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON HOW TERRIBLE THE CHICKEN LETTUCE WRAPS WERE. He doesn't separate the chick from the rice noodles, so they get soggy and once again NO SAUCE. GROSS.
I usually order pick up from this restaurant this is the first time I’d ever experience something like this , when I went to pay for my food it was an old chubby lady at the register I gave an her an $100 bill and she checked it which I understand but after marking it with the pen ( you can see where she marked the money) as you can see it’s a real 100 bill she went off about how it a fake bill and proceed to make a big scene in front of everyone handling this very unprofessionally i have been supporting this business for the longest just to be disrespected over $30 of food I think the management for service need to be improve .
The Nutty Buddy Roll is my favorite, but everything I've ever had at Akahana has been delicious! I go 30 minutes out of my way to eat there and it's always worth it.
They have great food and good prices. Love the BOGO Sushi. Their shrimp fried rice is the best in town and the amount of shrimp is out right the most anywhere I go. Great customer service too.
I would give a NEGATIVE 5 stars if possible. This restaurant has always been JUST mediocre. I've only ever ordered the same sushi roll from this restaurant several times and decided to expand my tries with other menu items. BIG MISTAKE! $80.00 worth of food and gratuity included w/o my permission, on a take-out order, was alarming first off. Don't dictate to me on how to spend MY money and then give me an entire order that smelled of rotten seafood, brisket to include in tasteless Pho broth, that smelled so rotten, it had to be thrown in the outside trash due to the smell. The same sushi I always ordered, I did not recognize it with lobster and scallops (never previously included in this sushi roll), which were rubbery and had absolutely no taste, the tempura around the shrimp was soggy and mushy, and the rice was cooked to mush also. The long of the short, this restaurant is serving food that is not consistent, food that is rotten, and charging gratuity on take-out orders. I'm go as far as to state, the health department should take a visit to this location to access food storage and prep. This experience and the food was horrible.I do not recommend this restaurant and I will not be back.
I have been here twice now & just want to say, don't get fooled by the BOGO reviews that this place has. It's no longer BOGO, but 25% off all rolls. Even that sounds promising, but truly, it's not. The rolls are priced very expensive to begin with (a vegetarian roll at $13). The rolls are average at best, and they get the job done. The miso soup is good though & so is the service. Still recommend
This place is absolutely disgusting. It smells like mildew. Please do not come here. After walking through a construction site to get inside, my husband and I sat down and ordered a Long Island Iced Tea with no sour mix. The manager came out shortly and told my husband that it wasn’t possible and no one ever ordered that. Well, We have been ordering it this way for years! He was very nasty and clearly annoyed about it and said he would do it but it’s not considered a Long Island. All of this just because we wanted to omit the sour mix? Was that truly necessary? Needless to say, we only ordered that drink that was apparently forbidden, paid and left.
I don't know what was worse-- the horrible sushi or the fact that the building so unclean it looked like it should be condemned. My friend and I could have accepted a less than stellar sanitary rating for some amazing sushi, so despite being grossed out while waiting for our food we were still excited. Unfortunately, when the sushi arrived we immediately realized it was not worth it. Sushi was horrible. I am confident that they used Uncle Ben's white rice and somehow thought it could pass for sushi grade rice.Bathrooms were disgusting. Our waitress was friendly enough.
