I normally love the atmosphere and food here. However, when I went recently they completely messed up my and my friends order, leaving out obvious ingredients like proteins and cheese that cost a lot more. When they remade them, mine was wrong again. I’m not sure if the person wasn’t bothering to read the actual order or what was going on in the kitchen, but I was pretty shocked to see they messed up my order twice in a row. I didn’t even bother correcting the second one because I didn’t want to wait another 20 minutes for an order I had already waited twice for.

Nice people and decent food. However, I find it really frustrating how I have to order online. I don’t want to make an account, I don’t want to enter my number, I just want food and I want to get what I order.Would come back for the ambiance and food but I’m not coming back until they change the ordering system. I ain’t using my phone data and charge to pay!

Will never be coming back to Tru Deli again. Have been waiting outside for 2 hours and was told I would be let on on the phone if I arrived when I did. After two hours we were still waiting outside. They were expecting us to wait outside until the last minute before the DUKE UNC game after waiting for 2 hours. Unacceptable. I don’t recommending supporting them.

required ordering from your phone only, no exceptions, and the app didn't work. So we went to one of the other dozen restaurants within the square block offering a human server, and had a great meal.

Great outdoor space, but sandwich quality wasn’t much different from what can be made at home.

I really dont like giving this review but after the experience yesterday, I have to.First, you have to order on your phone. They do not accept any physical payment here. Not only the inconvenience, but during the "sign up online to order" process, they get your phone number and email for marketing purposes.Secondly, the beer selection is horrendous. All craft beer without any selection of domestic. (I get the whole North Carolina craft beer thing but come on man).Finally, I ordered the new EASIEST drink known to man. Vodka neat with a splash of water. What I got was vodka on ice with a lime wedge.This whole process from opening the door to getting my incorrect drink took about 10 to 15 minutes, and that includes the sign up process.A few years ago this place was kinda cool but what the hell happened?! The vibe feels like a cigar bar lounge atmosphere whereas before, it seemed a little more inviting. Needless to say, I will not be back.

As someone who was on a brief trip to the UNC area, I have to say I really enjoyed TRU's sandwiches and ambience. It's a great looking place with nice architecture and unique design. The food was also very enjoyable and I was able to get a very well packed sandwich with a lot of meat and additional toppings for a good price. Overall, this is a great place to visit for a quick bite or to spend a lunch with friends.

I used to love going to Tru; I had been a faithful patron since my undergrad years. However, I was greeted with disdain as soon as I walked in for my prior visit on 11/24/21 at 7:00 pm. I expressed (respectful) confusion regarding the new ordering system, and was treated as if I was being aggressive by the young man behind the bar as he immediately when on the defensive. …..ok I go up to the bar later and asked if I could order a cocktail since I didn’t see them in the app ordering system. Again, ol’ boy starts being defensive and some young woman behind him rolls her eyes and then comes up and tells me in a huffy that they currently don’t have cocktails. ….alright?? I could not help but notice that no one else in the establishment was receiving this treatment for asking standard questions. Also could not help but notice that I was the ONLY Black person present. Let me spell it out. RACIST.

It's a nice enough space. Would have been a happy repeat customer along with academic friends (4-12) who meet at least once per week in this area. Having to order through the most hopeless app is a major no. Won't be back. A dumb, sad reason to lose business, but ordering drinks should be a convenience; certainly not a hindrance.

They mess up the sandwich order every single time, and they only allow you to order and pay with their online system, and the system doesn’t have a password reset option so if you forget your password you can’t ever use your account again.
