I’ve had Indian food all over the USA and England, and this is some of the best I’ve come across. Vegetable Korma is delicious if you’re vegetarian, with the veggie samosas, Tamarind chutney, and some Naan- you’ve got a great meal that is filling and easy, and full of spices. Kids love the chicken tikka masala. The “medium” spicy is pretty spicy- about like “hot” salsa so be advised. This place deserves to be really busy. They are fast and organized with takeout, which is easy to pickup. Before the pandemic, we loved the lunch buffet. Hope to come back for that as soon as our youngest is vaccinated. This place is not flashy looking, but the food is legit good.
Phenomenal service, delicious food and big portions! I came in extremely hungry and let that fact slip during a conversation with a waitress. To my great surprise, my lamb Rogan Josh arrived before I was done with the complimentary flatbread they brought out! Seeing the surprise on my face, the waitress said: "you said you were really hungry, and I asked the kitchen to make your dish ASAP". So considerate. Also, even though I was very hungry and the lamb was amazing, I didn't finish the food because the portions are so big!
They have very delicious Indian food and the service is great too. Definitely recommend it.
Food was amazing. I ordered chicken tikka masala and naan. I usually don't finish my food but in this restaurant I finished my food and did not asked for the box. ?
There buffet is really very nice! And the owner lady is very courteous and polite to talk to.
It's a small restaurant with an excellent buffet that's cheap for what you can get and really good menu items as well. If you want Indian in Chapel Hill I'd suggest this place first.
Lunch buffet is great if you're early. It's small but has the typical items you crave and they are great tasting. The catch is that they do not replenish items as they are consumed. Like, literally at all. I would not recommend going after 12:30ish as you will be scraping the brunt bottom of pans and you'll sit there waiting for them to bring more food out and it will not happen. This has been the case multiple times for us when arriving too late. You also only get one bottle of water with your meal. No refills.
I've always loved this establishment. Been coming here for years, while living in Chapel Hill and now when I'm visiting. High quality food and a nice peaceful environment!
Love this place. Owners couldn't be nicer but even if they weren't I'd go anyway because the food is excellent. I've tried many dishes and never been disappointed by any of them.
Tandoor is the best! Everything is amazing from the buffet, to the dinner entrees, the service, the prices, and my favorite chai in the Triangle. One of only a couple restaurants that are a home away from home for us, we're regulars who enjoy the comfy underground space as well as takeout that's just as good leftover as on day one (we call it "going to get groceries" when we get a big meal from there). I've been eating there since 2005, and while I was initially concerned when it changed hands several years back, it is truly better than ever! Smelling them cooking has lured me in from the nearby Bolin Creek trail for unplanned lunches on countless occasions. Highly recommend, and hope they'll be around for many more years to come.
