The food was delicious, as always. Our server was perfect, not too much, not too little, water always full. Overall, a wonderful experience.
A James Beard award winning chef, Gourmet Magazine "Top 50 Restaurants in the US," and the history of having a Michelen Star...if that is not enough of a reason to go, what are you looking for? The Asian Fusion food was tasty. I am from the SF Bay Area and was in Chapel Hill for a week. This was definitely the best restaurant that I dined at!
We ate in the bar, which I would not choose to do again. Too, tight, too loud and too warm. Great meal and good service. Terrific cocktails.
We always love the bento box, salt and pepper shrimp, and dumplings, but also really enjoyed the heirloom tomato salad and yuzu meatballs

Food and drinks were amazing for a much needed date for me and my partner. Service was excellent and food was trascendental. Just amazing. We will be back, again and again.
lantern is never disappointing and last night was no different - the staff are so friendly that it is almost like going to a friend's home for dinner. the flavors were fantastic - i had the pork and my dining partner had the chicken - both were fabulous... and the desserts... and the drinks. we hope to be back at lantern soon! the best in chapel hill hands down.

Lantern used to be among the best restaurants in Chapel Hill. This was our first time back post the pandemic and it was disappointing to say the least. The salmon in the bento box is inferior, the pea shoot and scallion dumplings were a disappointment (the accompanying sauce just dis not work). Most disappointing were the oysters-- just 5 small oysters to the serving and the yuzu just did not work and it just drowned the natural salinity and goodness of oysters, all for 16$. Really sad to see this Chapel hill gem loose its luster.
Loved our meal. Everything was so delicious! Highly recommend it.
