Gov's is located as the end building in a strip mall across from the entrance to the Governor's Club. I had driven by it many times unaware of how great a place it is. Nothing about the exterior draws you in - and that is a shame. The food is excellent at Gov's, maybe as good as it gets locally. Plenty of burgers on offer, along with hot dogs too. Sandwiches like Ahi tuna, southern fried pork chop or black bean burgers may temp you, and if they do, they will delight. The starters include fried squash, Bavarian pretzels and maple chipotle glazed bacon. For those looking four healthier options, there are four salads to consider. The menu ha familiar and uncommon offerings. The service is also impressive. Plenty of appropriate conversation all with a smile. The seating is somewhat limited, but with outside seating available we had no trouble getting in.We will become regulars here and hope to see you there enjoying it as much as we do.
Went to try the fish and chips, was not disappointed! 2 nice filets of cod, crispy and nicely breaded (not too breaded) and plenty of great french fries. Even had malt vinegar and tasty Cole slaw. Will be back to try hot dogs and burgers. Thanks Carmine, from a fellow NJ native.
This place has great, big burgers, and that's all you really need to know. They range on the pricier end of what you might expect to pay ($10-$13 for just the burger alone), but what you get is a big ol burger that is worth the cost. They have great staples and some unique appetizer and burger options as well.
Very good food. Our server, a young female named Rae, was very nice and accommodating. She made sure we were both well taken care of at all times. The cheddar bacon burger was fantastic. Well cooked, crispy bacon, and the aioli mayo was put on the perfect amount, not too much or too little. The fries are well seasoned and the (recommended by rae) chef spicy dipping sauce for them was amazing! Clean place to eat. Outside also has huge heaters in case you want a fresh air experience in the cold air. Was definitely one of the best burgers in. The RDU area!
went there on sunday it was colder inside the restaurant than outside yet the owner never said a word as to why. waited 45 minutes for a hot dog and chicken sandwich.
Just visited for the first time and really enjoyed the experience. The staff is friendly and efficient. The burgers are delicious and the fries are excellent!
First visit here. I tried the mushroom swiss burger with cheddar instead of swiss. I also got a small order of fries with lemon and garlic. Fries were good I normally don't like natural cut fries. Burger was cooked well, as I requested. Took a to go order home to my family of the gov burger. Wife said it seemed to be more heavy on the mayo than the aoli and she is not a big fan of mayo.
Staff is great. Burgers are good. Fries are always over cooked. Chicken sandwich and tuna sandwich both lack any flavor. I expect better for these prices.
Super yummy! Big, greasy, cheesy burger... yummy, healthy, robust salad... and the gluten free bun was delicious! My partner and I got Gov's as carryout for a staycation date night. We each got a burger, and split the superfood salad, and it was perfect. We will definitely be going back for seconds!
nice stop. Food was good and staff was attentive.
