This place is gorgeous, the food is AMAZING, and there is live acoustic music some nights, too. Breakfast is all day and everyday!! I work different hours at different times so this is Heaven to me. Lots to choose from on the menu. I go there often and am still working through options! I don't eat plant based all the time but I do a lot more now than I used to, and their food is so good I wouldn't even know.Pro tip, order their beer cheese sauce, they make it there and it's insanely good. Also, their breakfast sandwich, wow, so so good! I get it with chipotle mayo. Maybe sounds weird but trust me, you will thank me.It's also awesome that they are addressing climate change in a more direct way. You just don't see that a lot in North Carolina, not even in this more progressive area, right next to UNC. It's so different than it is in other big university towns, and I still don't know why.The only con is that I wish they were open every night for dinner. They close earlier on the first couple days of the week. They are open a lot more nights than when they first opened, and they are still a pretty new restaurant, so maybe that will change. It's also a local business and they source local, too. Go support this place, we need more of this here!Incredible addition to Chapel Hill.

Food and latte were so delicious. Staff friendly and new location is beautiful!

Atmosphere is great, staff is friendly, lots of food options!Lots of students and the seating is kinda crammed together.I ordered a matcha latte which was a really bad “matcha mix” kinda thing. If you know, you know. Wouldn’t recommend. Also ordered a “wild mushroom and arugula toast” which was yummy, but pathetic for $12-$13 price point.$3 side of fries was good thoughOverall a nice place to come and do work but I wouldn’t go there for the drinks / food

So thrilled to have discovered this gem on my recent trip to Chapel Hill. I found my happy place. ? As a gluten-free vegan, a way of life that has now offered me great relief from arthritic pain and inflammation, I finally walked into a beautiful, inviting space where my food was mainstream! I felt so validated and excited. The menu was appetizing no matter what your food preferences were. Bravo Coco ❤❤????Thank you!

I really, really wouldn’t get takeout food from there again. This has to be most over-priced place for that in the area - you’ll pay $15 for a cold, pre-wrapped sandwich that looks like a sad airport buy (completed with a fridge-cold baguette) and $10 for an entirely ordinary smoothie. I wish they would at least try if they’re going to charge that much.

My vegan family and I have visited this place 3 times in the 2 weeks since we moved here. This place has good vegan sandwiches, good coffee and matcha tea and really delicious French fries. The atmosphere is pretty relaxed. It is a bit pricey.

Highly recommend this place for breakfast carryout. I've been here a few times and it has always been absolutely delicious. I grew up vegan in the 1980s so I know a thing or two about plant-based eating. I had the Smoky Chipotle Bacon & Egg sandwich and it could not have been better with real meat or otherwise. I also got a side of fresh fruit which was generous and actually fresh. I saw a review that was less than stellar and sympathize with the poster. Hopefully that was just an off day. I will be back.

After loving the coffee and treats at their old location, we were so excited to try some of the carry-out breakfast and lunch items from Coco Espresso’s new bistro menu! Sadly, we were hugely disappointed in the quality of the food we received. For a total just shy of $50, we ended up with just ONE of the two breakfast sandwiches we ordered (minus the chipotle mayo we paid extra for), two meager bowls of “fresh” fruit featuring moldy blackberries and blueberries, and two containers of the soggiest, most anemic fries I have ever seen. After a solid 12 minutes in the air fryer at home they finally achieved a palatable degree of crisp, but all in all, this was probably one of the most unfortunate meals we’ve ever had in Chapel Hill. I can only comment on the carry-out dining experience, but it’s safe to say my friends and I will not be ordering from Coco again any time soon.

At Coco you can find a cozy spot, a gorgeous atmosphere, and the most scrumptious foods for any time of day and mood: from small bites to big plates and portions you might want to share! Try the hummus and falafel — plated so artfully you might not want to eat it!Some people have mentioned that Coco doesn’t offer cow’s milk, but unlike Starbucks for example, they also don’t change extra for 3 plant-based milks including soy, coconut, and my favorite, almond! I think it’s kinda cool how sustainable this place is trying to be.Some days the vegan dining hall food options just don’t cut it, so basically, I keep on coming back to this: thank you for existing.

A few things good and more than a few thing bad / need work.GOOD-Nice ambiance-You’re not getting Starbucks-like coffee (it’s really good).-Good place to bring your laptop and work-They have alcoholic bevs ☺️BAD-Took 30 mins to get chicken fingers, another 15 to get the fries, and another 20 to get a chicken, arugula, and pesto sandwich-We sent the sandwich back because the description said roasted shredded chicken and melted provolone. We got the same fried chicken tenders that we’d ordered before and a piece of unmelted cheese slapped on top. I sent it back for a redo and they said they couldn’t get in contact with the chef and weren’t too sure how to make it. Well, did you think to read the same menu that your guests were reading? I showed them the menu and they were going to make it again but after 20 more minutes of waiting, I asked to just cancel it.-Bad customer service. The manager on duty never came to apologize for their mistake or the long wait. She decided to avoid us the rest of the time that we were there. We drove in from Cary but I’d have to say - it wouldn’t be worth another trip back. Needs some work / training if their staff.P.S. I know it’s been tough on restaurants during the pandemic and I honestly don’t know why they wouldn’t just say coffee and pastries only until we can get our new staff trainee properly. It’s easier to understand than getting food you didn’t order, subpar service, stressing your employees, and giving guests such a bad experience that they don’t want to return.
